Chapter 4 - Four

Britah

I'm so excited about Sunday, and I don't think anything will go wrong. I get to spend the day with Lenah, hopefully without her dad ruining the mood by being there.

It's unfathomable, how I feel so attached to Lenah, who I'm not related to at all. I didn't know I'd be this excited to meet her, moreover I just met her recently.

Her dad is really lucky to have her. And he really cares so much about her. Though he's a rude and utterly impatient man. But he's really handsome and truly attractive... what are you doing, Britah? You're not supposed to find him attractive. He has acted badly towards you. I hear my conscience scold me.

It's right. I'm not supposed to find him attractive at all. He's an awful man. With an angel for a daughter.

Sunday arrives, and that too, really fast. I go to work and try to pass time, ignoring everything around me. I'm not even supposed to be here.

As I come out of the cafe kitchen, my eyes land on a tall stunning man, giving me a stern look. Oh God! Lenah!

"Uh..." I start.

"I don't want to listen to your excuse, Brit. Just come with me." he interrupts and takes me outside by the hand.

"Hey- leave my hand." I say.

"You're late, and you ignored the message I sent." he says. "My daughter has waited for fifteen minutes for you."

"Message?" I ask in confusion.

"Check your phone. I sent you the location Lenah is at." he says furiously.

He actually sent the message. I'm in trouble now. I slowly meet his eyes that are literally murdering me already. 'I should apologize. I think.'

"I'm sorry." I say to him.

"Just get into the car. There's nothing to say to you." He replies and walks toward his car."Back seat." he adds.

I get inside and find Lenah asleep in the co-driver's seat. She's really adorable. Her dad gets in and starts driving. The drive is silent, full of tension and suspense. I'd rather be anywhere but here.

He parks outside the mall, and that's when Lenah wakes up. We get out of the car, and once Lenah sees me, she hugs me tightly. I love this girl. "What took you so long, Britah?"

"I was looking for an outfit...." I lie.

"Hmmm...you took long, but your outfit needs work." She says.

"Really?" I ask her, looking at my clothes.

"Yes. Dad's too. We're going out for fun,not to the office." Lenah says. So my dress looks like an office one?

"I don't need to change." Lenah's dad says.

"You're in a suit,Dad, in fact, we're not continuing this thing till you both get changed."

"What? I came with one outfit only." I defend myself.

"Let's go." the man says. "I'm sure there are more clothes inside."

What the heck? Is he taking us shopping?

Just as I suspected, he has taken us to the boutique inside. "Good day, Mr Vitale. " an attendant says.

His name, Vitale.... means life. Then why does he act dead? He didn't even speak. He only nodded and walked in. Lenah takes me by the hand and says, "Get something that matches you perfectly, okay?"

"Okay.." I laugh.

As I look through the clothes, a guy my age arrives."Hey. " he smiles.

"Hi." I reply with the same energy.

"Need any help?"

"I'm not sure....perhaps I do." I reply.

"Okay..." he says. We look at the clothes together. He has a good fashion sense. His sense of humour is good too. I finally choose a beautiful outfit. A pair of white shorts and a white off-shoulder blouse. And the outfit matches my white sneakers.

I go to fit in, but it looks like I have company. Immediately I get in, someone gets in, locks the door and very swiftly covers my mouth with his large hand. It's scary until I realize who it is. "You?" I muffle from under his palm. Mr Vitale.

"What are you doing here?" I ask immediately he takes his hand off. I hope he's not planning on... No,he can't, right?

"What was that out there?" he asks.

"What was what?" I ask.

"With that attendant. Speak."

"He was helping me choose an outfit. And what's wrong with that anyway?"

"A lot. I don't want to see this again."

"Excuse me, who do you think you are to tell me what I should and shouldn't do? I'll talk to whoever I want to." I reply.

"How dare you?" Mr Vitale growls, pulling my hair aggressively, which makes me cry out in pain.

"Mr Vitale!" I gasp.

"Do as you're told,Brit. Don't force my hand." he warns and lets go of my hair, then leaves.

I feel like crying. Damn me and my sensitive feelings...How could he do that to me? What's his problem? I exhale deeply and get dressed, trying to stop thinking about the incident. "Britah, are you done yet?" Lenah's voice sounds from outside.

"Coming!" I say. I look good. I hope Lenah says the same thing.

I get out of the fitting room, and find Lenah waiting for me. "Wow!" she says. You look so good, Britah. " she says.

"Thanks." I smile.

"Dad, Dad what do you think?" Lenah says and her dad arrives. His eyes trail my body, like he's checking me out or even worse, which makes me uncomfortable.

"Agua en la boca ..." he smirks, locking his eyes with mine. His comment makes me even more uncomfortable. This shamelessness man just called me mouthwatering... That too in front of Lenah. My eyes widen with shock and contempt at his remark.

"What does that mean, dad?" Lenah asks. I'm relieved she doesn't know.

"I actually meant that she looks okay." Mr Vitale clears his throat and answers, and cuts off eye contact.

He changes into a white T-shirt, which makes him look so good. I actually try to not look at him. Princess, let's go get some ice cream. You too, Brit." he says.

My liking for the way he calls me is really worrying. I'm not supposed to like him or anything related to him. At all!
