Chapter 55 - Just smell

Luo Yan muttered to himself, making a wish, and took out a large bowl to prepare the potion. First, he added auxiliary materials, then the main materials. Finally, a bright red liquid appeared in the bowl, its surface shrouded in a faint mist that constantly changed, like drifting clouds.

"Defensive item..."

Luo Yan looked around but couldn't find anything suitable in the room. His gaze finally settled on the chair beneath him.

"This plank is good!"

Acting on his thought, Luo Yan directly detached the wooden plank he was sitting on from his chair and poured the potion onto it.

The potion, instead of spreading, gathered together, forming a large circle that occupied most of the plank.

Luo Yan carefully placed the plank on the floor. Without the chair, he simply sat on the ground and began to carve the symbol of a Tyrant into metal, preparing to combine it with Beyonder materials to make a few more talismans. During this process, the potion on the plank gradually diminished; it wasn't evaporating but slowly seeping into the wood.

Creak~

Just as Luo Yan finished the third talisman and was working on the fourth, the door was pushed open, and Xia Tali walked in.

"Captain, good morning."

Xia Tali entered the room listlessly, holding a goblet full of fresh blood, her steps even a bit unsteady.

"It's only noon, isn't it? You're up so early today?"

Luo Yan was a little surprised. According to Xia Tali's routine, she usually slept in the morning and woke up in the afternoon. She should still be sleeping now.

Xia Tali sat down next to Luo Yan without any regard for her image, gently placing the goblet on the floor and sighing softly.

"Captain, I'm hungry and can't sleep."

"Hungry?"

Luo Yan nodded, not particularly surprised. Xia Tali had only drunk a little of his blood yesterday and hadn't had any since. More than ten hours had passed, so it was normal for her to be hungry, but he was very puzzled.

"Don't you have blood here?"

Xia Tali immediately pouted in disgust.

"This is fish blood. It doesn't taste good, and it's especially fishy."

"Fish blood?"

Luo Yan sniffed carefully and indeed detected a hint of fishiness in the blood, in addition to the usual metallic scent.

"You're in such a bad state? That shouldn't be right, should it? No matter what, you could find Luo Ta and Mite. You shouldn't have to drink fish blood."

These words seemed to flip a switch, and Xia Tali immediately started complaining.

"Those two took advantage of the situation, saying if I wanted to drink their blood, I'd have to trade potions for it. I didn't want to suffer that loss, and their blood doesn't taste good either."

Luo Yan's mouth twitched involuntarily, and he unconsciously shifted his butt to the side, creating some distance from Xia Tali.

"You came to find me...?"

Luo Yan asked tentatively, his mind quickly formulating excuses for refusal. It wasn't that he was stingy, but he needed to be in top condition to prepare for the upcoming Summit War, and he had to ensure he was at his best when the Summit War broke out. He wasn't sure if he could maintain his state after being bitten by Xia Tali again.

Xia Tali noticed Luo Yan's wariness, but she didn't mind. She picked up the goblet and took a small sip.

"Don't worry, Captain, I just came to smell you. You smell better, and drinking fish blood with your scent makes it easier to swallow."

Luo Yan was stunned. He never expected Xia Tali to come here just to smell him.

"Really? There's such a thing?"

"Yes, it's like how you have a better appetite when you smell delicious food. Also, Captain, let me confirm something: do you need me to do anything in five days?"

Xia Tali put down the goblet, her expression becoming serious.

Luo Yan's expression immediately turned serious as well: "Yes, you don't need to enter the battlefield. You have the ability to fly. I might need you to provide aerial support for me then."

"Okay! I understand. It seems I'll only be able to drink fish blood these few days. Fortunately, after some large fish extract Beyonder characteristics, the remaining blood also has some spirituality. Although it's still inferior to human blood, it won't weaken me for a short period. I'll save Little Golden Monkey's and White Sable's blood to ensure I can maintain sufficient condition at that time."

Although Little Golden Monkey and White Sable are animals, they have already become Beyonders, and the spirituality in their blood is even higher than that of ordinary people, capable of quickly restoring Xia Tali's condition. However, because both animals are very small, only a little blood can be drawn at a time. To satisfy her, she can only accumulate it multiple times. Fortunately, as a Vampire, Xia Tali has enough ways to keep blood fresh, which is knowledge inherent to the potion.

As Xia Tali mentioned the two animals, Luo Yan suddenly remembered something.

"Hey? Speaking of which, what's the situation with Mite and Luo Ta? They haven't come to me for a potion promotion after all this time. Haven't they finished digesting it yet?"

Luo Yan remembered that when Xia Tali took the Vampire potion, Luo Ta had already digested half of his potion, and Mite had digested a third. Now, so many days had passed, and Luo Yan had even scolded them back then. At least Luo Ta should have finished digesting it by now, but there was still no news.

Xia Tali pouted again, a hint of disdain in her brows.

"Who knows? Those two have been getting lazier and lazier lately. They're unwilling to do anything I ask them to, far worse than Little Golden Monkey and White Sable."

Luo Yan subconsciously thought back. He didn't think Mite and Luo Ta had become lazy. Mite had always been driving the ship, and he did it well. Luo Ta had always been cooking, and while it wasn't particularly delicious, the portions were always sufficient.

After a second thought, he understood the reason. It was probably because Little Golden Monkey and White Sable were so easy to use. As their owner, Xia Tali would naturally have these two animals execute whatever she ordered without any discount or delay. Compared to them, a gap naturally appeared.

"I'll go ask those two later how their potion digestion is coming along. Speaking of which, how's your potion digestion?"

Since potion digestion came up, Luo Yan casually asked Xia Tali.

Xia Tali's face immediately fell: "Captain, I'm a Vampire. Being on the ship all the time, I can't even summarize the acting principles. However, after I drank your blood last night, the potion showed significant digestion. You see..."

By the end, Xia Tali showed an expectant expression. Luo Yan nodded, indicating his approval.

"After Ace's matter is over, I will cooperate more deeply with the Revolutionary Army. You will then have the opportunity to act."

"Oh..."

Xia Tali responded, with clear disappointment in her tone. Luo Yan pretended not to hear and continued to carve the metal in his hand.

Time passed little by little. Luo Yan concentrated on carving the metal. Fortunately, these metals were mostly tin-based, relatively soft, and the carving difficulty was small. Although he was not yet very skilled, he still managed to complete all the talismans without any major problems.
