Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The Nursery

Besides Ariel, there were no other customers that morning.

At noon, Kawaki and Bewear had a simple meal, then took advantage of the lack of visitors to tidy up the messy grass in the backyard.

The Breeding House was now in ruins, and many things needed to be handled by him personally.

He picked up and threw away the stones hidden in the grass to prevent any Pokémon from tripping while strolling there.

This area would later be where Pokémon like Oddish and Ponyta, who love grasslands, would be active.

The forest area didn't require Kawaki's attention; the trees there were tall and dense, with lush canopies, and sunlight filtered through the leaves onto the forest floor, looking very beautiful.

This area would be reserved for Pokémon like Treecko, Lotad, and Seedot to inhabit.

As for the lake area, it naturally belonged to Water-type Pokémon like Magikarp and Feebas.

Bewear stood on the grass, watching Kawaki's actions for a while, and quickly memorized them. It then stepped forward, snatched the lawnmower from Kawaki's hand, and pushed him by his back, telling him to go back and rest.

Kawaki was a little confused: "What's wrong, Bewear? I'm working. I need to take good care of this grass so I can better accommodate the Pokémon entrusted by customers."

"Guh!"

Bewear pushed Kawaki away, then stepped forward itself, pushing the lawnmower to trim the messy grass on the ground.

Seeing this, Kawaki immediately understood.

Bewear was telling him to go back and rest!

This was truly...

Kawaki was both amused and helpless.

Was this Bewear treating him like a child?

It followed him around all day, taking care of him. If he was happy, Bewear would be happy. If he was sad, Bewear would also be sad.

Kawaki knew he couldn't resist Bewear's strength, so he simply handed over the lawn mowing to Bewear and prepared to go to the other side of the courtyard to turn over the soil in the fields.

"Bewear, I'll leave this to you. I'll go back to the Breeding House first to see if any customers have arrived," Kawaki said. "After we finish these, we'll go for a stroll in the forest in the evening."

"Guh!" Bewear readily agreed.

Seeing this, Kawaki smiled and turned to go to the courtyard.

The land here had already been tilled again with the Helping Hand of the Machamp construction team, and it was ready for planting.

This courtyard... let's call it the Herb Garden!

Because besides everyday vegetables and fruits, Kawaki also planned to plant some essential herbs here to make Potions later.

Such as Potions for restoring stamina, Antidotes for detoxifying, and Burn Heals for curing burns, and so on.

This way, if a Pokémon in the Breeding House got injured, he wouldn't need to go to town; he could provide treatment services for them at home.

The Herb Garden wasn't very large. It only took Kawaki a little over an hour to sow the herb seeds and vegetable seeds he had purchased from Fallarbor Town.

Kawaki had divided the fields with fences into three areas.

One was the Herb Garden, one was the vegetable patch, and the other was an area specifically for planting Berries.

Currently, there were five Berry trees in the Breeding House.

They were Sitrus Berry, Pecha Berry, Oran Berry, Cheri Berry, and Leppa Berry.

The variety was a bit limited. Looking at these Berry trees and the empty space next to them, Kawaki decided to buy more Berry trees later to enrich the types of Berries in the park.

After planting the seeds, Kawaki slapped his forehead, remembering one more thing.

He almost forgot to water them!

He quickly picked up the Psyduck watering can, filled it with water, and began to water each field.

"It seems besides Grass-type Pokémon, I'll also need to catch a Water-type Pokémon to help with watering," Kawaki murmured.

Perfect, he could check if there were any suitable Water-type Pokémon nearby when he went out this evening.

Now that the Breeding House had income and was officially on track, he also had the ability to raise more Pokémon.

By the time Kawaki finished his work, it was already three in the afternoon, and Bewear had also just finished.

"Let's take a break!" Kawaki brought Bewear a cold Berry Juice.

Bewear took a sip and immediately felt cool and refreshed all over.

"Guh!" Bewear was very happy, and its happiness, which had decreased due to work, began to rise at this moment.

Kawaki glanced at it. This time, it didn't give him a reward, perhaps to prevent him from maliciously farming gifts from the same Pokémon?

Or perhaps because the happiness level hadn't reached the requirement for the next gift?

But it didn't matter; he was already satisfied that Bewear could stay by his side and help.

Kawaki looked at the clock on the wall; it was already three-thirty in the afternoon. He decided to go outside to see if there were any customers. If not, he would close up now and go explore the forest behind the Breeding House with Bewear.

But just as Kawaki stood up, a boy around ten years old ran in.

Another customer!

"Hello, is there anything I can help you with?" Kawaki asked.

The boy's eyes were bright. He seemed to have run all the way, and glistening sweat beads ran down his forehead from the exertion, making him look extremely excited.

"Boss! Do you have any Pokémon Eggs for sale?!" the boy asked excitedly.

Kawaki: "...I'm very sorry, the Breeding House has just resumed business and is currently unable to provide this service."

"Ah?" The boy paused, a little disappointed: "You don't have any..."

But there was only one Breeding House near Fallarbor Town. If he couldn't buy a Pokémon, he would have to catch one himself.

But he didn't have a Pokémon, so he couldn't battle wild Pokémon at all.

And this small place, Fallarbor Town, also didn't have a Professor's laboratory, so they couldn't go there to receive their starter Pokémon.

Kawaki looked at the boy's expression and asked, "Are you from Fallarbor Town?"

"That's right! My name is Xiao Ye, and I just turned ten today," the boy introduced himself.

"How did you know there was a Breeding House here?" Kawaki was a little curious; he hadn't advertised yet.

"Jenny told me!" Xiao Ye replied.

Jenny? Was Junsha Chun helping him promote? Kawaki was slightly surprised.

"Oh, by the way, Boss, when's the earliest you'll have Pokémon Eggs in stock?" Xiao Ye couldn't help but ask.

Kawaki thought for a moment, then shook his head: "I'm not sure yet, but it shouldn't be long. Later, I'll contact some Trainers and receive Pokémon Eggs from them. If you have a need, or want a specific Pokémon, you can tell me in advance, and I can keep an eye out for you."

Besides breeding services, selling unhatched Pokémon Eggs to customers was also one of the Breeding House's main businesses.

Generally speaking, the League did not allow private buying and selling of Pokémon, but Breeding Houses were an exception.

And it's worth mentioning that even Breeding Houses were only allowed to sell Pokémon Eggs and young Pokémon.

Xiao Ye had been a bit disappointed, but upon hearing this, he immediately perked up.

"Then can I pre-order a Dratini egg?"

Kawaki: "...That kind of rare Pokémon Egg is not something a Breeding House can acquire."

No Trainer would hand over such an egg to a Breeding House to sell.

"What about Bagon?"

"Not available either."

"Charmander?"

"Charmander is a Kanto region Pokémon; there are none in the Hoenn region."

Xiao Ye immediately looked dejected.

Kawaki was not in a hurry. A qualified businessman, while enthusiastically receiving customers, also needs to understand their needs in detail, and then recommend products that meet those needs while also bringing in more profit for themselves, thus achieving a win-win situation.

Listening to this child, he seemed to really like cool, dragon-related Pokémon.

If it was a Dragon Pokémon Egg that an ordinary person could obtain, it would probably only be Axew.

However, the Breeding House didn't have any now, and Kawaki couldn't guarantee it, so he could only say:

"I'll keep an eye out for you later. Give me your contact information, and I'll contact you when the Breeding House has Pokémon Eggs."

"That's the only way..." Xiao Ye gave his home phone number to Kawaki. Before leaving, he pleaded pitifully: "Please, Boss! I really want to have my own Pokémon and travel with it!"

This was the wish of every child who turned ten in the Pokémon world.

It was once Kawaki's wish as well.

He paused, then smiled and nodded, agreeing: "Okay."
