Chapter 20 - [20] Chameleon troupe's base

The Chameleon troupe left the underground arena, after the conclusion of Zen's challenge.

'They must be holding a voting ceremony soon....' Zen predicted, while feeling Disappointed internally.

Boss spoke so confidently when promising to hand over the underground arena to him - Zen hoped they could have kept their words before leaving.

Zen could easily think why they didn't move immediately, but he still felt like it was a let down.

For years, the Chameleon troupe has been laying dormant and conquering this arena would be their signal for the world as their return. They would want to leave a big enough impact.

'I wonder what kind of show they would make to gather attention.'

It has been a day since Zen was promoted to platinum rank. Most of his time was spent in the new base, which was comparable to a normal villa.

There were already signs of other djinn organisations keeping eyes on him. Their malice wasn't hidden in the slightest - they even kept tabs on Zen's subordinates.

It wouldn't be long before they attack.

The situation was perilous but Zen felt no need to make the first move himself. The Chameleon troupe would make a short work of them either way.

'I might be able to take on a few high ranking djinns, but it would be hard to take on a whole organization made up of them. Intermediate heroes are more easy and fun to kill....'

More than anything, Zen had something more interesting to do.

The template system showed his progress:

[You have refined 11% of the artificial dungeon. You have unlocked more features!]

[You can modify all the platinum rank players and below.]

With [Reality manipulation], Zen had taken control of this artificial dungeon to a degree.

After reaching 30%, Zen could even directly promote himself to diamond rank. However, he predicted that the other diamond rank players would be able to sense their authority deteriorate - if he continued refining the artificial dungeon.

Therefore, Zen just waited for the Chameleon troupe to act. After being promoted to the diamond rank - he could take control and experiment with this dungeon as he pleased.

[Reality manipulation] [Evolving - grade 6] [EXP 12%]

This [Gift] had seen a huge upgrade after Zen used it so extensively.

Jin Sahyuk would have never been able to use [Reality manipulation] like Zen. With the combination of [Rewind], which gave unlimited mana - he could push this [gift] to its max potential.

Bzzz~

Taking out the vibrating phone, Zen smiled slightly at the message from the Chameleon troupe.

The result of the vote had tilted towards him highly. It would be problematic in itself if they rejected him, even after Zen showed such a spectacular fight.

"Go and gather everyone. Tell them to stick around in the base for today. It would be quite problematic if they were affected by what is to come." Zen spoke with a bored voice.

The 11% of the artificial dungeons that were under Zen were like free ram in a mobile. It could put it to use in almost everything - even enhance his own strength temporarily.

For now, Zen had set the refined part of the artificial dungeon to defence mode. To protect [Dark society] as a whole.

Within the past two days, Jin Sahyuk had brought him three [Gift] wielder to plunder too.

The gifts were namely: [Terrain mapping] - a mid-intermediate gift.

It could create a 3D layout of the surrounding, making enemies' positions apparent in Zen's eyes.

[Qi shockwave] - Low-intermediate.

And [Metal decay] - mid-intermediate.

[Gifts] were inherently different from quirks, they could stack up quite well and possessed more variety than quirks.

'She is turning out to be a better pawn than expected.' Zen smiled happily and began browsing through the computer with his gift - [Computer base].

Having absorbed enough knowledge, Zen could look into much hidden information now.

The hero association was in full alert - Zen's image was being spread throughout the globe. And apparently, they have watched his platinum ranked battle.

'Once I take over this arena, I will eliminate all the double agents first.'

After a while, the system of this dungeon grew quite hectic.

[The dungeon has suffered immense damage...!]

[A diamond rank player has died....!]

Swiping the notifications away, Zen relaxed on the sofa. He just went through an interesting piece of information.

The hero association and the temple of justice, an organization that appeared in the later part of the novel - with Aileen were going to collaborate and form a team to take Zen Shigaraki down.

Zen's rise had affected the hero association's credibility quite a lot in public.

A huge battle was to be expected if Zen left the artificial dungeon unprepared. They wouldn't rush into this dungeon recklessly, no one would.

'Unless...the master-rank heroes move.' Zen felt like he had to prepare soon.

[You have been promoted to a diamond rank player!]

[All the resources within the dungeon have been opened to you.]

Zen Shigaraki received the notification he was waiting for.

He could feel it, more than 90% percent of the dungeon was instantly refined by him. Originally, the diamond rank would have belonged to whoever killed a diamond player.

Chameleon must have transferred it to him in the end.

"Hey, newbie."

"!!!" Zen's expression froze seeing, Boss standing beside his sofa.

[Terrain mapping] couldn't scan her either.

'The gift [Interference field] is active passively around me too. Do those master rank gifts have resistance against weaker gifts?' Zen contemplated while nodding towards the Boss.

A blue portal opened beside the Boss in a second.

"I will show you our main base now and remember, the seat of black within the Chameleon troupe has been given to you." Boss spoke seriously, taking glances at Zen to see if he understood.

"....The seat of black is considered the strongest in the Chameleon troupe. Live up to its name."

"Understood." Zen stared at the desolate cave before him. The base was the same as how it was described in the novel. A normal person would definitely suffer from mental illness living here.

"Ah~ here at last! Have you decided on your code name? Or we can just go with black lotus...." Jain waved with impatience.

Zen continued maintaining his grim smile and spoke: "All for one - that will be my code name."

"Oh~ alright, it suits you strangely. Anyway, we will have to show you off to the world now~" Jain continued, recommending Zen his first mission.

It was foreseeable that Zen Shigaraki will have his hands full of missions for a while.

The Chameleon troupe accepted many missions from all around the world. Mostly for assassinations and protection.

Taking up two mass murdering missions from the unending list, Zen pushed back the tablet to Jain.

Knowing Jain's love for money, Zen wondered if he should ask her for a few more mission recommendations. Money was a necessity for raising an organization. This train of thought was interrupted by the system's prompt.

[Ding!]
