Chapter 1 - Jeremy

" They tortured me and I protected your secrets, I protected you. "

" Regret is unprofessional..."

The man laughed , " they kept me for five months in a room with no air, they made me suffer untill I realized that it was you who betrayed me.

So I broke the tooth and bit into the capsule, it burned all my insides. "

" I'll never see you again...."

"... Do you know what it does to you ... Hydrogen cyanide. " The man removed the mask shielding his face revealing a disfigured face that looked like melted plastic.

" Look upon your work , mother . "

The woman he was speaking to flinched for a second but immediately regained her composure, she signaled and immediately a shot rang out and the man was here, he came here to air his grievances button the end his life had been snuffed out.

He had spent his entire life living in service of others and now he had nothing to show for it, knowledge had failed him , he was foolish knowledge without power was just an empty husk.

.....

" Jeremy Sanders, sixteen, blunt force trauma to the back of the skull.

He has suffered a brain hermorage and has been in an induced coma for a week to prevent activity and help reduce pressure on the brain. " A first year resident at Mercy West hospital, Boston presented the medical history of a boy to the senior attending Doctor.

The boy in question, Jeremy Sanders lay on the hospital bed with wires and IV drips connected to him .

But despite that chaos he looked so peaceful, his skin looked pale and his jet black hair longer but it seemed like it was a prank.

That evening at 9:40 pm Jeremy opened his eyes for the first time in a week , he was no longer the Jeremy of the past, something had changed.

He knew of things,he had memories of things that he knew he didn't experience or did he?

He remembered the shot, the enveloping darkness that grabbed him at the moment of death.

He felt himself, he felt alive not dead . He remembers memories where the twin towers were destroyed but there were also conflicting memories where it was camp Pendleton that was destroyed by terrorist activity.

He then decided to rest his head so that maybe he would make sense of the situation.

During his period of rest he found out that both souls had many things in common, they were both intellectuals with the old soul being more hands on while the younger one focused on theories.

The old soul was raised in a crime family, Mafia and cartels lifestyle were all part of his upbringing but still despite that , he went to school and got several degrees.

The younger soul had a normal childhood with loving parents who unfortunately perished in the accident that led to his coma.

The next morning when he woke up he decided to take on the persona of Jeremy Sanders as any attempt or obsession with digging into his identity may lead to an identity crisis.

A young nurse, Elena walk into the room and was shocked, Jeremy wasn't supposed to be out of the induced coma.

She immediately paged a doctor and few minutes later Jeremy was being observed by the medical staff, few tests later and he was fit for discharge but some doctors wanted to keep him for observation.

Two days later Jeremy found himself in the suburbs of Medford, a two bedroom bungalow where he and his family lived, well until their passing.

The house according to what he has overheard was paid off with no mortgage so his mind was off rent.

But still he would need money for groceries and utilities, moreso it wouldn't be long until child protective services get wind of his situation.

He couldn't also sell the house at the moment because he was still a minor and no self respecting realtor would do business with him.

Although he had lost his parents and had been betrayed in his previous life, Jeremy was mostly calm and rational.

What he needed now was freedom, but to achieve that, he needed to be financially free.

The insurance payout he would receive in a few days would be a great step towards that direction.

$360,600 was the death benefit to be received by Jeremy but then still , there was the matter of his age, he didn't know if any trust set up for him, he wasn't even in class of people that had trusts set up for them.

Most likely the court would name a custodian to oversee the funds untill he comes of age.

Another thing was to start selling off property; furniture, jewelry, tv, fridge, beds . Anything that he didn't have immediate use for was immediately being placed for sale.

Few weeks later, everything was sold off including the computers and his phone, the only thing that remained in the house were his clothes, bed , microwave, electric stove and a mini fridge he had bought.

This was both to start anew and get some cash .

$9020, this would be his ticket to greatness, this time, he would only live for himself.

There was no need for him to call the insurance company, he already knew what they were going to say and if his mind was still okay the money would be in the county probate court.
