Chapter 3 - Welcome to Beacon, I Guess (pt.1)

Climbing aboard the large airship to Beacon, Xavier let himself blend in with the other passengers, fully content with staying away from the spotlight. He sat alone, but not too far from other mobs, just enough to make them notice his existence.

He didn't speak much, as the only time he ever exchanged a few words was when he was spoken to. Friendless and alone as he seems, he still had the same unbothered face he always wore. On his side, held a classic acoustic guitar case, and inside was his weapon of choice. It was nothing special, it didn't have those dust rounds you see on almost all weapons, nor can it transform into something else... Well, normally transform, to be more specific.

Lifting his left arm to check his watch, which told him that there was still time before the Vale Airship departs. He decided to take a look around the cabin first. Four large windows mounted at a downward oblique angle, and a cabin that was still filling up with hopeful students, were all that was going on inside the airship.

Unfortunately, Xavier, didn't bring any soda to drink on the way. So he had to deal with doing nothing but watch each person enter the ship. During this time, he saw a familiar red figure talking to a blonde girl around his age. He broke sight of them promptly after seeing their faces, as he had no business with the two girls.

Xavier then quickly returned to his seat as the cabin began to fill up with more and more passengers. He rested near one of the semicircular windows and closed his eyes, seeking to rest on the way.

As the Airship began to levitate and travel towards its destination. A small groaning sound originated at his side, a blonde boy, whose face screams of suffering.

'Motion sickness?' Xavier eyed the boy with eyes half-opened, who struggled to even keep straight. 'It's not like it's uncommon. I just hope that he can hold on long enough before we get there'. Ignoring the slow increase of background noises, he let himself continue to rest.

About midway through the journey, a rude awakening welcomed him with a loud "Gross, gross, gross, gross, gross!" And a "Get away! Get away from me!" There was also a warm, wet-like feeling that's clinging to his right leg.

He looked down to see that his leg was bathed with a yucky rainbowy goodness. Xavier nearly gagged at the sight, the pants and one of the shoes he wore had been tainted.

His eyes darted towards the likely culprit, who seemed to be more focused on vomiting rather than apologizing. He wanted to nag the boy right then and there, but that would mean making a scene. One that he would rather not make when it was probably just an accident. But he made sure to give the young blonde teen a stern glare, a focused warning that made the blonde boy shiver before he continued vomiting.

Xavier let out a sigh, 'Just this once.' Doing his signature motion, he let his hand up, and.

*SNAPS*

The sound echoed through the cabin, and the vomit that had clung to his leg just now disappeared. Leaving his black pants looking clean and pristine. His eyes then relaxed as he looked outside the window; he could see Beacon nearing, and a surrendered smile formed on his face.

'This is going to be my home for a couple of years... I just need to lie low during those years, and I can walk away a free man.' He thought to himself, as the life of something that wasn't supposed to exist is quite chaotic to say the least.

'As long as I don't stand out, the world won't be throwing any misfortunes my way.'

At the same time, not far from where Xavier sat. Ruby who has been chatting with her sister, noticed something about everything had changed.

"Rubes?" Yang asked after seeing that her sister wasn't paying attention to their conversation.

"Huh?" Ruby snapped out after hearing her older sister.

"Something wrong?" With a concerned voice, Yang asked.

"N-no, it's just... everything looks different all of a sudden?" Unsure if 'different' was the right word as everything still looks the same. Ruby began rubbing her eyes, making sure it wasn't playing tricks on her.

"Different? Like what?" Yang then gasped as she put together her thoughts. "Are you finally catching up to your big sister in the chest department?!" She teased, "Has my baby sister grown up into a woman like me?"

"What!? N-no! Not that! It's- I don't know!" Ruby embarrassed by her sister, decided to run off.

The Vale Airship landed at Beacon, and with its door opening, a blonde male ran straight through to find the nearest trash can to let out his lunch on. After him were the many hopeful huntsmen in training, who are ready to take their first step into finally becoming the huntsman or huntress that they dreamed of being.

Beacon in all its glory was a sight to behold. Lush greenery that's probably been taken care of more than the gardener's child, tall buildings that give you a minor megalophobia, and a long pavement that welcomes you inside those buildings.

His walking speed slowed down, letting all other students walk past him. He wanted to take his time sightseeing. After all, it's not like he's short on time to attend the welcoming speech.

The soles of his shoes tapped on the road as he walked, the air was calm, and the smell of a garden's water filled his nose. If he were to rate the experience it would be without a doubt a solid 9.4

10, if his dream was to be a huntsman. Then he sensed a sudden danger, that made him stop in his tracks. An explosion barely grazed him, while two girls, red and white, stood at the center of the explosion's origin.

The smell of exploded Dust lingered in the air, as a bottle rolled to Xavier's feet.

The white haired girl, recovering from the spot that covered her, yelled at the small girl whose main color palette is composed of red and black. "Unbelievable! This is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about!"

The red girl made an apologetic and embarrassed look, before apologizing to the white haired girl. "I'm really, really sorry!"

'Wow... A rich girl. It's my first time ever seeing one up close.' Of course, he wouldn't say what he thought out loud. He stood quietly as if watching a K-drama in person.

"Ugh, you complete dolt! What are you even doing here? Aren't you a little young to be attending Beacon?" The rich girl spoke as if her superiority were her birthright.

The girl, whom Xavier considered to be socially awkward after seeing her, struggled to find the right words to say, as only a 'Well' managed to successfully escape her mouth.

"This isn't your ordinary combat school. It's not just sparring and practice, you know! We're here to fight monsters, so... watch where you're going!" The rich girl continued.

Xavier picked up the bottle that rolled to his feet, inspecting it, and saw the logo a the Schnee Dust Company. 'Oh?'

He looked back at the girls, focusing more on the white figure than the other. 'So she must be a Schnee.' He judged her by her white hair and strong attitude. 'But why be a huntress?' Personally, Xavier wouldn't think twice about staying at a mansion all day if he were a Schnee.

Then a black haired individual, walked up to the girls and began talking about something that made the Schnee princess look angry for some reason. Xavier then locked eyes with the said girl, who stomped her way to him, which made him sweat from the look of her eyes.

She got up in his face. "Give me that!" Then walked off with a huff, as her helpers followed suit with luggage in hand.

Xavier stood dumbfoundedly. 'What did I do?' Then his watch started ringing. Signalling to him that he should probably start making way towards the auditorium, leaving the small girl behind as he passed her.

'Oh yeah, where did that other girl go?'
