Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 : Sharon Carter

It was getting dark. At seven o'clock in the evening Sebastian put on his clothes and headed home. By the time he arrived Alisha was setting dinner on the table. When she saw him she greeted him and invited him to prepare for the meal.

However as Sebastian changed clothes and washed up then sat at the dining table he noticed there were three sets of tableware on the table.

Three sets of tableware?

Did Alisha have a boyfriend?

He could not help but wonder.

Sebastian was very strict when it came to Alisha's relationships. It was not that he was against her having a boyfriend but the person had to be someone truly worthy.

As Sebastian mulled over this the sound of a knock at the door interrupted his thoughts.

Alisha walked quickly to the door and smiled at Sebastian.

"Sebastian dear, guess who is here?"

"Mom, I am guessing you are having a White House visitor. You should let them in."

"Alright, alright."

Alisha reached out and opened the door. A young woman with glasses and blonde hair tied with a headband dressed casually in a sweater walked in and gave Alisha a hug.

"Cousin Alisha, we have not seen each other in seven or eight years!"

"Yeah, it has been a long time. You went to college in New York, right?"

"Yes, State University of New York at Stony Brook. I am just a freshman there."

"Ah, an excellent school. It would be nice if Sebastian could be like you."

It is always easy to compare with other people's children.

After chatting for a while Alisha finally remembered to introduce Sebastian to her cousin whom she had not seen in ages.

After closing the door Alisha brought her guest to the table and sat down. She then spoke.

"Sharon, this is my son Sebastian Shaw. Sebastian, this is your aunt Sharon. Sharon Carter. Her mother and your grandmother are cousins and they have a very close relationship. Sharon and I are also very close. She is a student at the State University of New York and she will be visiting us often in the future."

"Hello, I am Sharon Carter. Well, you can just call me Sharon. We are about the same age so it feels a little strange for you to call me aunt."

Reaching out to shake hands with Sharon Sebastian smiled.

"Hello Sharon! My name is Sebastian Shaw. You can just call me Sebastian."

It had been seven or eight years since he had seen a distant relative who had nearly fallen out of contact. It was really surprising how his mother suddenly got back in touch.

"Alright, let us have dinner soon."

Alisha greeted Sebastian and Sharon to sit down for dinner. Sebastian was used to Alisha's cooking but it was Sharon's first time trying it. She could not stop praising it. After finishing dessert she slumped back in her chair rubbing her stomach with a satisfied smile on her face.

"Alisha, your cooking is incredible! You truly deserve to be a three star Michelin chef."

Alisha had heard this compliment many times but hearing it from Sharon still made her happy. The two chatted some more.

Sebastian sat to the side sipping tea to aid digestion though his brow furrowed slightly.

He did feel that the name Sharon Carter sounded somewhat familiar but he could not quite remember why.

Before coming to this world he had spent over ten years in the magical world of his previous life. Aside from some key memories most of the remaining ones were a blur. He could retrieve them using a Pensieve but since he had not even successfully crafted a wand yet making a Pensieve was nothing more than a fantasy. Besides he did not know much about Pensieve creation. He was known for his knowledge in his previous life but he did not know everything.

Forget it he thought. I will stay on guard. If she does not have an ulterior motive it does not matter. But if she does I will take action immediately to ensure she does not harm my mother.

"Sharon, stay here tonight. I have a spare room."

Waving her hand Sharon replied.

"No, I have a class early in the morning. I will definitely come to visit you during my vacation."

"Then I will drive you to the subway station. It is getting late after all."

"Well okay then. I will trouble you."

"It does not matter."

Alisha greeted Sebastian and put on her coat. She left with Sharon to drive her to the subway station.

Sebastian simply tidied up the table putting the dishes and cutlery and forks in the sink.

Once everything was finished Sebastian went back to his room to do some homework. He checked that the second wave of items he had ordered from eBay and Amazon had been shipped. Then he stopped paying attention to them. He sat down at his desk and took out a book he had not had time to look at. He poured himself a cup of black tea. However something in the back of his mind did not sit right.

He could not shake the feeling that there was more to Sharon than met the eye. He was not the type to leave things to fate especially when something felt off.

With a determined expression he grabbed his cloak like jacket and slipped it on pulling the hood low to conceal his face. There was no reason for him to take chances if things were not as ordinary as they seemed. He decided to follow her and keep an eye out. See if his instincts were right.

As he quietly moved toward the door he glanced back at his room one last time before stepping out ready to pursue answers.

Meanwhile Alisha slowly parked the car in front of the subway station.

Sharon's school was the State University of New York at Stony Brook. It was about an hour and a half drive from downtown New York though taking the subway would be much faster.

Seven or eight o'clock in the evening was not too late.

After saying goodbye to Sharon Alisha drove home.

Watching Alisha leave Sharon pulled out her phone and dialed a number. She said directly.

"Sir, I am out."

Coulson's voice came through the phone.

"Sharon, I am sorry to have you spy on your former friend."

"Sir, you know this is my choice. Instead of having a strange agent monitor them it is better for me. Someone connected to them to do it. This way there is no misunderstanding. I can better convey our intentions and safeguard their interests. It is a win win."

"But if something goes wrong you are likely to be the most at risk. You may even lose your friends. If you want I will send other agents. Trust me, he will do it fairly and justly."

"Sir, I insist on carrying out this task. The target is only someone similar to Sebastian not necessarily him. At least in this observation I have not seen anything unusual. To me they just seem like a very ordinary mother and son. If anything the target has a composure beyond his years but there is nothing particularly special about him."

"I understand how you feel but Sebastian Shaw is the most likely power user capable of killing Kilgrave. While we do not have definitive proof the possibility of him being the target is almost one hundred percent. At least eight out of ten. So please continue observing. Do not let him stray down the wrong path or we will have to take more extreme measures."

"I understand sir. But I do not like calling him the man who killed Kilgrave. I prefer to call him the man who saved Jessica Jones."

"Alright, I understand. I will keep an eye on things from now on. This call is ending here."

After hanging up the phone Sharon stood in front of the subway station watching the roaring subway rush by. She could not help but sigh but her expression soon became firm. As Peggy Carter's niece Sharon had always admired her aunt seeing her as a life goal. However when faced with her mission monitoring relatives and friends she realized for the first time that she was not as determined as she thought.

I hope Sebastian is not a bad guy.

In the shadows Sebastian remained still hidden from view as he observed Sharon. Finally he let go.
