I can't bring myself to release Sally's hand. Her fingers intertwined with mine feel like they belong there, like they were always meant to be.
This day has surpassed every good memory I've ever had. Actually, it's crowned itself as the absolute best.
Starting with my gorgeous mate's warmth beside me when dawn broke. Then sharing magical hours with my son, whose giggles create a light in my world that defies explanation. Capped off by precious time alone with Sally. Everything has aligned perfectly. They both are perfect.
We stroll along the walkway toward her front door, and I deliberately drag my feet, desperate to milk every remaining moment with her. The entrance approaches much too quickly. I'm nowhere near ready to release her. The instant we cross that threshold, I know her analytical mind will spiral into chaos again.
