Ajax's fingers tighten around mine as his gaze searches my face. "Perhaps we should keep this quiet for now, at least until we understand if there's real danger. Karl was..."
"I won't hide anything," I interrupt firmly. "Not from any of them. If I've brought danger here, they have every right to know."
Ajax's expression hardens, but eventually he gives a reluctant nod, weaving our fingers together more securely.
We head back toward the house without speaking, hands intertwined, while my thoughts race with the implications of what Ajax just helped me understand. The world feels more precarious now, like a single misstep could shatter whatever stability we've managed to build.
The remainder of the day passes with less tension hanging in the air.
