The days crawled by in an endless stream of legal consultations, mountains of documentation, and the agonizing wait for laboratory confirmation. I found myself checking my phone obsessively, though I knew the DNA comparison would take time to process.
The home testing kit had been straightforward enough. Simple cheek swabs collected from both Karl and Warren, then sealed and shipped to the certified facility for analysis. Logic told me the outcome was inevitable. Every instinct screamed that Karl was Warren's biological father. Yet anxiety gnawed at me relentlessly.
My mind conjured disaster scenarios with maddening persistence. Laboratory mix-ups. Contaminated samples. Statistical margins of error. I researched accuracy rates online until my eyes burned, but the numbers never fully quieted my racing thoughts.
