Sally's POV
Silence settles over the house like a heavy blanket.
Sean remains upstairs with Warren, while Karl sits at the kitchen island, brooding silently. The weight of tonight's events hangs between us, thick and suffocating.
"What really happened out there?" I slide onto the stool beside him, needing answers.
Karl takes his time responding. When he finally looks up, his gaze immediately finds my neck. I catch the flash of raw anger before he turns away, jaw clenched tight.
"Three-pronged assault. They had it planned out, but we were ready for them." His voice carries the edge of someone who's seen too much violence. "Jackson's been drilling defense strategies with every pack member since they came of age. We always knew this day would come. I just wish it could have been different for you. You should have experienced our peaceful years first. You would have fallen in love with this place."
My stomach churns with sudden dread. "Did we lose anyone tonight?"
