Ajax's POV
Sean's voice explodes through the mind-link like a gunshot. "I've just found Warren running towards the town. Someone get back to the house now!"
The words hit me like ice water. My mate is in danger. Every nightmare scenario floods my brain at once. Hunters dragging her away in chains. Torturing her for information about our pack. Breaking her until there's nothing left.
My wolf snarls and abandons the hunt immediately, paws thundering against the forest floor as I race back toward the house.
"On my way!" I bark into the link.
Karl and Philip's panicked responses buzz in my head, but I shut them out. I can't afford distractions. Not when Sally's life hangs in the balance.
The sound of her voice reaches me before I see her. She's calling Warren's name, desperate and raw. Relief crashes through me. If she's shouting, she's still breathing.
Now I just need to reach her before the hunters do.
