Sandy's POV
Charles looked completely different in the aftermath of our passion. Even as my legs trembled around him, I couldn't tear my gaze away from his face. He appeared so vulnerable, so lost in the moment that it took my breath away.
Without thinking, I pulled my hand from beneath his shirt. My fingertip traced the line of his throat, feeling the way his Adam's apple moved as he swallowed hard. The simple touch made me snatch my hand back.
His eyes opened slowly and found mine. Something about the way he looked at me in that moment made my chest tighten. He seemed so relaxed, so at peace, as if the weight of being an Alpha King had lifted from his shoulders. As if he was just a man lying with a woman who mattered to him.
A woman who mattered to him. The thought hit me like cold water, and my hand dropped from his face. I wasn't that woman. I was his dirty little secret.
