The wind carried the scent of pine and distant rain as Paul gestured toward the winding road that stretched beyond our territory. His voice carried the authority of someone who had walked these borders countless times.
"This marks our boundary. The patrol guards rotate through three shifts to keep this entire perimeter secure," he explained, his finger tracing the invisible line that separated our land from the unknown.
A low grumble erupted from behind me, cutting through Paul's explanation like a blade through silk.
"Why don't you just hand her a detailed map of all our defenses while you're at it? Make it nice and easy for her to run back to that pathetic excuse of a Pack she came from and help them plan their next attack."
