The silence shattered like glass against stone.

Peace never lingered long in my world, and today proved no different.

The door groaned on its hinges, dragging me from the restless fog clouding my thoughts. My body moved without permission, sitting upright despite the dizziness that crashed over me like a wave. Sharp stabs of fatigue shot through my limbs, protesting every movement.

My fingers clutched the mattress edge, desperate for stability as my eyes found the figure entering my prison.

This wasn't him. Not the monster who had purchased me like livestock at market.

The newcomer stood shorter and thinner, lacking the crushing authority that radiated from my captor like heat from a forge. His suit was pressed to perfection, his stance rigid and mechanical like a well-trained servant. His gaze skimmed past me as if I were furniture, focusing instead on the tray balanced in his hands.
