Charles's POV
The instant those harsh words left my lips, I wished I could take them back. But Sandy's expression remained completely unmoved, as though my opinion of her mattered less than nothing.
This reaction cut deeper than if she had screamed at me for calling her ordinary, for claiming she was no different from any other woman. Those words weren't true when I spoke them.
The truth was I'd been spiraling since witnessing her kiss that bastard, consumed by rage because there were so many secrets she didn't know yet, truths I'd eventually have to reveal.
None of that mattered now.
She stood before me wearing nothing except her underwear. Her bare breasts were perfectly shaped, just the right size to fill my palms completely.
I hadn't felt them beneath my touch in far too long.
The mere sight of them made my mouth go dry with want.
"What exactly are you attempting here?" I forced myself to swallow and look away.
