Sandy's POV
"You are his mate?" Zayden whispered, his grip tightening around my waist until I could barely breathe.
I studied the sharp angles of his face, then surrendered with a heavy exhale. "Please let me go."
"Answer me!" His fingers pressed deeper into my skin, each digit a silent threat demanding honesty.
I stared into those coal-black eyes, trying to gauge just how dangerous this situation had become. All I found was raw suspicion burning back at me.
"You heard everything already." My voice came out barely audible, my palms flat against his chest to maintain what little distance I could manage. "Yes, I belong to your brother."
Zayden recoiled as though my words had scorched him, yanking himself away and collapsing onto the bed's edge. I turned my attention to the transparent ceiling overhead, my pulse hammering against my throat.
A deep, animalistic sound rumbled from his chest. Every muscle in my body went rigid as I carefully shifted away from his imposing presence.
