Evelyn was both anxious and happy as she stood at the door of one bedroom apartment her boyfriend was living at. She had been knocking for some minutes but the door has not been opened.
"This is weird I clearly told him that I am on my way to his house". She thought to herself. As weird as it seems, she didn't let it dampen her mood as her face was full of smiles. After continuous waiting she started getting annoyed. " Was he not the one that assured me that he was home? She asked herself. "Maybe he is sick or something let me call him". She opened her handbag, brought out a small button phone and start searching through the contact, after searching for some seconds, she finally saw the number she was looking. It was saved with "hear stealer" .
She had a dreamy look on her face as she waited for the call to connect. " This is becoming weirder the phone is clearly ringing why is he not picking up? She asked but no one was there to give her an answer. The annoyance was clearly visible on her face she started pacing up and down.
" What can he be possibly doing that made him not to answer the damn phone or is his doorbell broken too. What if he's not in the house in the first place? What if he have fallen asleep after waiting for me? Yeah that might be the case after all I did waste time when I was waiting for a taxi. Yeah it made sense that was what probably happened.
Her facial expression has shifted through, annoyance to worry and then back to calmness as her mind was processing what may be the reason for such abnormality.
"Maybe I should call him one last time and if he didn't pickup, I will leave ". Her mind was made-up as she dialed the Heart Stealer again.
The call connected and a male rapsy just woken up from a sleep' type of voice was heard on the phone.
"Hello?
" Hello baby? Is me, what happened? Are you just waking up? She asked while thinking to her self ' I knew it, I know he was asleep the entire time I was banging at the door. Hmm what a good sleeper.
" I know is you Evelyn, I fucking know after all I saved your number on my phone". He answered.
"So what happened? What were you doing when I was calling and hitting your door" she demanded with angry tone while smiling to herself. ' you dare keep me standing, just watch and see how I deal with you". she mused to herself as many scenario ran through her mind.
"Baby am sorry, I didn't mean to let you experience that. You know I just kinda close my eyes and next I saw was me and you in cloud like we're looking over our world like earth is our creation, me and you stand on top of it while admiring our handwork and you look into my eyes and told me that I have fulfilled your wish, you give me a kiss and I kissed back and..."
" Stop! Stop! Stop it, ahh so shameless. I understand, you don't need to explain. Hmm too bad that I have already left " she lied with a playful smirk on her face.
" What a shame, how I wish you are here". Replied the voice from the phone.
" Bet you are wishing to go back to sleep to finish what you have started right? Well before you do make sure that you take the present that I left for you at your door step and you have to be quick before it becomes another person's present". With that said she cut the call.
Evelyn posed there ,in the front of the door like a police officer trying to catch a criminal by surprise. She was finding it difficult to suppress her laugh as she imagined what his reaction will be when he opens the door and see her thete.
Well she didn't need to wait long as the door was opened few minutes after but this time the role was exchanged as the shocker became the shockee which was what we called the irony of fate.
"What the heck? Evelyn was blown out by what she saw when the door was opened. Because before her was her best friend instead of her boyfriend in flesh and blood looking at her a child caught stealing meat from the pot.
Both of them stood there frozen like they saw the face of medusa. Evelyn couldn't believe her eyes as they were fixed on her bestie almost naked body.
"Clara what is the meaning of this? Why are you like this in my boyfriend house were you the reason why the door was not opened earlier? You better come clean or else...." Evelyn demanded with for explanation.
" Clara what is taking you so long? didn't you see it?" Came an impatient voice from inside.
Clara smiled sweetly at Evelyn after regaining her composure. " What did you think my dear Evelyn?" She asked as she lean on the door frame hands folded as she looking at her like a clown.
"Honey ! What are you still doing outside? Didn't you see it? You know what forget about it. I don't know what that bitch is up to lately always annoying, thank God I found you though." He continued to say when he got no response
"Did you hear that? You heard what he called you right? I always known that you are slow in putting one or two together but I don't know that it is this bad. "She looked at Evelyn with disdain and contempt.
"Hey honey! Are you there? What is taking you so long? Come inside let's continue what we're doing, you know that you left this little guy standing and it kinda hurts. Just forget about the goddamn present who needs it anyway. That slut cannot be serious for once in her life anyway, always fooling around.
"Liaaaam! Come out right now! She wanted to scream but couldn't found her voice. Her emotions were in turmoil as she didn't know what to feel at that moment. Is it betrayal, disappointment, heart break of knowing that the man who you are willing to die for, only regards you as slut, the heartbreak of knowing that the one who you trusted with body only sees you like a bitch .
"So what this fella is trying to say is that all the happy smile, those teeth he shines whenever he sees her was a facade.
That all the sincere wishes and promises they made to themselves was also a lies. The beautiful home with beautiful children is also a lie. So all these farce was just get me on his bed and he succeed, didn't he?. But I trusted him, believed in him, ready to sacrifice and give my all for him and this is the results. What are the chances that all these were clara fault? Eighty percent right? Who knows maybe she feeds him some weird spicy juicy portion that clouded his mind. So I have been playing solo in these game thinking that I had a partner. It's all the fault of these witch " her red blooded eyes turned to clara who was still showing off superiority
'taaaaaah! Taaaaaaaah! Two sounds slaps was heard as a two resounding slap was delivered to clara which brought her down to her knees. Her face was full of bewilderment as she stared at Evelyn who seemed to have transformed into another person entirely. She couldn't believe that Evelyn who was always gentle kind, who even found it difficult to kill a fly have this side of her and she's a heavy hitter too.
"Wha.. wha... What did you just do? Did you just slapped me" she asked amidst of fear as she finally found her voice.
" Well looks like I am not the only one who's dumb after all hahahaha what a rare occasion to be happy." She laughed bitterly .
" This cannot be more obvious can it? She asked as she continued mocking Clara.
"At least the sweet sensation you are feeling on your cheeks would have given you a clue on what I just did right?. She bend down to meet her eyes.
" Maybe I should back track it so that you will have a clearer feel of what I am doing." And before Clara knows what was happening another two resounding slaps was delivered again to her face, these one was louder like a clap of thunder, knocking her off her knees.
" You will regret what you are doing, you will see" Clara managed to say as she laid there powerless to do anything.
" Yeah, I for sure regretted all my earlier actions and decisions I made because that was what put me in this mess right now, but slapping you? That's what I will never regret". She said as she sat there on the ground.
" How does it feel? Does it hurt? She trails her finger tips on the finger prints on Clara's face as if she was admiring her hand work.
"But let me tell you, it doesn't hurt like what you and that liar did to me. If I were to scale it , it will be one out of ten. It means that what I did to you, what you are feeling right the humiliation and pain is just the tip of the iceberg of what you served me, did you get it? It means I still have nine to be served and you are already like this, you must be joking. Hahaha! That's the spirit Evelyn, laugh they should be the one crying for what they lose not the other way around.
She stood up as she shouted " Liam don't tell me you didn't hear my voice, are you sleeping? Don't you want to be the knight in shining armor that saves the damsel in distress!
