"Charlie warned me you look like a perfect gentleman—easy to deal with—but you're actually ruthless and won't hesitate to destroy anyone who gets in your way," I said, meeting Rowan's gaze directly. "He told me if I ever crossed paths with you, I should expect the worst."
My words cut deep, but I wasn't sugarcoating anything. Rowan wanted the truth, so that's exactly what he'd get.
I repeated every harsh word Charlie had ever spoken about Rowan, holding nothing back. Charlie despised the man who'd personally orchestrated his exile to St. Chaim Reform Academy.
Rowan absorbed the brutal assessment without flinching. He knew I wasn't lying—this was exactly what Charlie would say about him.
But I offered nothing else of value. When I fell silent, Rowan's frown deepened. "That's everything?"
I held his stare, keeping my voice steady. "That's it."
