Chapter 2 - Gods Decide the Fate; Mortals Bear It.

Blue Star, merica

Blue Star, home to countless time travelers—some evil, some good. It is said Blue Star has the blessing of three major gods. One such being is the Truck-kun God, with the power to send souls to different universes after crashing into them.

Truck-kun God is a very powerful deity. With the majority of time travelers being transported with his help, his divine power has increased at a rapid pace. It is said his followers are all over the multiverse. Rumor has it that Truck-kun God is of Japanese origin.

Another such god is the System God, known for its powerful ability. Time travelers who have completed their journey are often granted a "system" ability to aid them in their endeavors.

It is said that in ancient times, the System God used its abilities to parasitically bond with its hosts, forcing them to do its bidding. However, with an increasing number of people who managed to break free from the parasitic system and seek revenge, the System God was forced to change its ways. Rumor has it the System God is of Chinese origin.

Last but not least is the Main God Space. Some say it is a very powerful god, while others claim it is not. With its main catchphrase—"Do you want to live? Do you want to know the meaning of life?"—it has captured countless beings from across the multiverse.

It is said that the rules within the Main God Space are very strict, and it has countless casualties. With the power to manipulate cause, effect, and fate, it has captured the origins of countless worlds. But even with this immense power, the Main God Space has been destroyed countless times.

Rumor has it that due to the high-pressure environment, time travelers often end up destroying the Main God Space after getting rid of its contractual bindings. Despite this, the Main God Space has continued to flourish. It is said to have countless clones, and fragments of these clones, after being destroyed, often fall into the hands of time travelers. Rumors suggest the Main God Space is also of Chinese origin.

University of Olirado

It was another sunny spring day. Bees and butterflies flew around the flowers, and a gentle breeze caressed the faces of people going in and out of the university. One would say it was a very quiet and peaceful afternoon.

But the same could not be said for Room 404 of a university hostel. With rock music and drums blaring from a speaker and people shouting over their PC games, Room 404 was quite a scene. It was a four-person room: one person played music, two others played games at a loud volume, and the last person was fast asleep. One would say it was a place full of chaotic energy.

The boys playing games and listening to music were quite normal. But how could someone sleep in this environment? This boy had the makings of a time traveler.

At exactly 12 o'clock, the boy who had been sleeping got up to the sound of his phone alarm. With a towel in hand, he went for a wash. The other boys, hearing the alarm, glanced at him but then continued with their games.

As they were playing, one of the boys received a message on his PC. At first, he ignored it, but as the message popped up more and more frequently and relentlessly, he had no choice but to click on it.

"Do you want to live? Do you want to know the meaning of life?"

The message froze him. As a novel otaku, he knew exactly what this meant. 'Someone is hacking my PC and planting a virus!' he thought, annoyed.

He tried to close the message, but then another sound played directly in his mind.

"Ding. System booting..."

"Calibrating with the host..."

As the boy listened to the voice, he froze at first, and then his shock turned to pure ecstasy.

The thought of having superpowers and being rich filled his mind. But that's another story, because with the time-traveler industry becoming increasingly competitive, the three gods have been using their utmost powers to recruit members for their organizations.

While they can recruit ordinary members, these individuals don't have high potential and can't help the gods in this fiercely competitive environment. This has led to clashes between the three deities, just like the current situation where both the Main God Space and the System God are trying to recruit the same boy.

In this increasingly competitive environment, the Main God Space and System God have been having a hard time. Unlike the Truck-kun God, they cannot use their full, real powers so freely. They were on the verge of a fight.

In another dimension of Blue Star, the System God and the Main God Space were arguing fiercely about who would get this new member. As their argument escalated, the Truck-kun God watched, knowing it was all going to end in a divine brawl.

As the argument grew more intense, it quickly escalated from shouting to throwing punches. Seeing they were about to fight for real, Truck-kun knew this could end very badly. He tried to calm them down.

"Hey, calm down, both of you! Don't fight!" he urged.

But the System God and the Main God Space completely ignored him, continuing their brawl. The conflict only grew more intense by the minute. Seeing no other option, Truck-kun decided to use his power to separate them.

As he moved between them, both gods turned on him.

"Hey, don't come between internal family matters!" one shouted.

"Yeah, this is a family matter! It's none of your business!" yelled the other.

It just goes to show that even gods can be racists.

Seeing them become increasingly volatile and harm the very fabric of the dimension, Truck-kun knew he had no choice but to separate them and make them calm down. So, he joined the fray to pull them apart.

Seeing this, both the System God and the Main God Space thought, 'While we are having a hard time in this increasingly competitive environment, Truck-kun is doing just fine. And now he has the nerve to separate us? This is like sprinkling salt in our wounds!'

So, they both turned on him.

"Didn't I say not to interfere in our internal matters?" one roared.

"Are you saying we can't even settle a dispute within our own family?" the other shouted.

With that, the System God and the Main God Space turned their fury away from each other and directed it all at Truck-kun.

Seeing them turn their fury towards him, Truck-kun hastily dodged the fists flying his way. "I was just trying to separate you!" he shouted. "Your fight is harming the dimension and the Blue Star universe!"

The fight had escalated to a level where both the System God and the Main God Space knew they had to stop. However, the thought of bearing the losses for damaging Blue Star—a territory divided between them—was too much. They decided they had to drag Truck-kun into the fight to share the blame. So, not only did they ignore his words, they intensified their attacks.

Seeing this, Truck-kun had no choice but to defend himself. He wasn't an evil god, nor was he purely good, but even a deity has his limits. The one-on-one fight had now become a two-on-one brawl, and the damage they inflicted upon the universe and the dimension grew increasingly dire.

Their blows became so powerful that countless spatial cracks tore open across the real Blue Star. Seeing this, the Will of the Blue Star Universe grew impatient and used its immense power to force them apart.

"Don't you realize the level of harm you have caused my universe?" its voice boomed. "I kindly gave you a recruiting platform, and you repay me by causing this destruction? I should have known that a dog's tail won't be straight even if you use a rolling pin!"

Facing the Will of the Universe, all three gods felt like children caught by a shopkeeper while trying to steal an apple. They grew increasingly docile.

As the three gods received their scolding from the Will of the Universe, the spatial cracks caused by their fight began to heal, for the universe has its own "platelets."

However, one such crack had appeared in the bathroom where the "sleeping beauty" was washing up. As the crack healed, the boy, who was in the middle of his shower, felt the soap slip from his hand. It skidded across the floor directly toward the spatial tear.

Seeing the soap escape him, the boy—who had already lathered his whole body, including his face—groped blindly for it, his eyes stinging from the soap foams. As he searched, he stumbled increasingly closer to the unstable crack.

When his fingers finally closed around the soap, the spatial crack, which had healed from nearly twenty feet to just ten, had consumed most of its power. But the energy that remained was still more than enough to affect an ordinary boy. A powerful vacuum force acted upon him, and with a loud "WHOOSH!" he was swallowed whole.

After nearly an hour, the spatial crack finally closed completely, leaving the bathroom silent and empty. With its closing, the universe began to correct the timeline, erasing the Main God Space and System God's invitations that had never reached the boy.

After noticing their friend had been in the bathroom for nearly two hours, the other boys grew worried. They knocked on the door, but after getting no reply for five minutes, they decided to break it down.

With a loud thud, the door gave way. The bathroom was silent; no water was running. A wave of panic washed over them. They were just teenagers and didn't know what to do, so they decided to call the police.

The police arrived and investigated, but they had no answers for the boy's disappearance. It was from the police that the friends learned the boy they had lived with for three months after high school was an orphan.

The case drew media attention and gained public interest, but with no leads and no family to push for answers, it eventually grew cold. It became one of the ten legendary unsolved cases at the University of Olirado in Merica.

At last, when the timeline was finally corrected, the Will of the Universe began to check if anything was missing. As he scanned his domain, he came across the case of the boy.

Seeing this, he was taken aback. He had protected the universe from the gods' power, yet a boy with an unlucky fate had stumbled into a spatial crack while taking a shower and was swallowed up. This was a first for him.

The chance of such an event was so minuscule that the probability of the universe being destroyed at random was high in comparison. It was a truly miraculous—or perhaps disastrous—fluke.

The Will of the Universe could only sigh in resignation. "When there is a god's will," he murmured, "what can a man do?"
