Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Heart of Slaughter Unleashed

"How is it even possible for one person? Even these lowest Goblins here are level three monsters!"

"He's just acting tough; give it a bit and he'll have to crawl out of there with his tail between his legs."

"I read some posts before, said these things called Goblins are nasty as hell. There was a senior who… Well, he didn't wanna use his student pass, ended up almost busting his ass—literally."

"Damn, I can picture it now!"

"Ugh, you guys are gross. Anyway, I heard he picked a Defense Profession, so why's he lugging around that oversized saber?"

"Bored outta his mind, I guess."

"Sure, he's on the tank path, but maybe the dude dreams of being a DPS hero."

"I bet you anything he'll be crawling out in less than twenty minutes."

"You're thinking too small. I say we let the faculty know ASAP, or he's gonna end up as the next campus cautionary tale in the textbooks."

"True, true—I'll notify the trial admins right now."

......

Su Mo had just stepped into the secret realm when he spotted a Goblin, all green and barely a meter tall, strutting over toward him.

He'd tangled with one of these little freaks before; spent half the day fighting it and still didn't manage to kill it.

Sure, he knew the dungeon had reset god knows how many times.

And this was clearly not the same Goblin as last time, but that didn't make him hate these things any less.

He gripped the Guan Saber with both hands, slammed his feet down hard, and dashed straight ahead—all in one swift move.

One green head went flying, blood splattering everywhere.

The monster that used to take him ages to beat now died from a single slash under this hundred-pound Guan Saber.

And right then, he felt his other Awakened Ability fully activate.

Now that the world had turned into some sort of game, everyone had their own data panel.

Without a second thought, Su Mo pulled up his panel.

[Name: Su Mo]

[Level: 1]

[Awakened Ability: Absolute Defense, Heart of Slaughter]

[Strength Attribute: 6]

[Defense: max]

[Speed: 5]

[Constitution: 7]

[Critical Strike Attribute: 2%]

[Skills: None]

[Assignable Free Attribute Points: 1]

Su Mo looked at the panel—maxed out Defense and that new Free Attribute Point—and felt beyond satisfied.

But he was still inside the dungeon, so wasting no time, he dumped his new point straight into Strength Attribute.

His Defense was already off the charts; what he was missing in DPS was raw Strength.

You gotta survive to dish out DPS—and he could already guarantee a hundred percent survival.

So next up, Strength Attribute equals DPS!

As soon as the point dropped into Strength, he felt his hundred-pound Great Guan Saber lighten by at least twenty pounds in his hands.

This pumped him up big time. A few more Goblin kills and he'd probably be swinging the giant saber one-handed.

All he'd need is a Red Hare Horse, and boom—modern-day Lord Guan, coming through!

He didn't have long to daydream; maybe it was the scent of blood,

or maybe just because he'd entered the dungeon.

Three goblins, looking no different from the last, suddenly came rushing toward him.

With his first fight behind him, Su Mo handled things with way more ease this time.

One swing of the Great Guan Saber and a Goblin was instantly split in half.

The other two, like they'd been triggered or something, charged at him even faster.

But Su Mo didn't bother dodging these two incoming Goblins at all.

Two Wolf Fang Clubs smashed into him with loud, explosive bangs.

An average person would've been a pile of broken bones.

But for Su Mo, it was like nothing happened—he calmly pulled back his Guan Saber, raised it high, and with one more slash took another Goblin out.

Two swings later, the ground had two more corpses lying around.

3 new Free Attribute Points—he splurged them all on Strength Attribute.

Now his Strength Attribute was up to 10, and that Guan Saber he used to need both hands to wield—he could now swing it one-handed.

He kept moving forward, absolutely destroying everything in his path.

He just ignored the Goblins' attacks; every swing of his Guan Saber claimed another Goblin life.

Each life meant one more Assignable Free Attribute Point.

Ten minutes later, he'd already racked up 26 Free Attribute Points.

If he dumped all those into Strength, forget about entry-level DPS classes.

Even level-three Burst classes would look like a joke next to him.

Of course, what he was talking about was the regular auto-attack Burst classes. They have one unique advantage—killer Critical Strike Attribute numbers.

Critical Strike Attribute means crits and crit rate.

But Su Mo couldn't care less about that. Real men land heavy hits—relying on crits is for the weak.

Just wait till I stack Strength Attribute enough—each punch drops a mushroom cloud, and those guys are still praying for lucky crits.

Another ten Goblin kills—gold light flashed over his body. He'd leveled up to two.

All Attributes plus one, plus one more Free Attribute Point.

Pulled up his panel:

[Name: Su Mo]

[Level: 2]

[Awakened Ability: Absolute Defense, Heart of Slaughter]

[Strength Attribute: 11]

[Defense: max]

[Speed: 6]

[Constitution: 8]

[Critical Strike Attribute: 3%]

[Skills: None]

[Assignable Free Attribute Points: 37]

With 37 Free Attribute Points, he was super tempted to slam them all right into Strength Attribute.

But after checking his measly 8 in Constitution, he hesitated—ended up putting 15 points there, bumping it up to 23.

After all, Constitution was all about stamina and endurance.

No way he'd be that guy, swinging a Great Guan Saber like a true tough guy, but gasping for air after five minutes and needing a half-hour break.

The remaining 22 Free Attribute Points—straight into Strength. Strength Attribute shot up to 33.

Normal Classes only break 30 in a single attribute at level ten, max.

But here's Su Mo, not even level two, already meeting that mark. Total beast vibes.

He was feeling practically invincible.

If he ran into Goblins like before, he wouldn't even need the Guan Saber—a single punch would crush their skulls.

Right as he was thinking this, another six Goblins showed up.

This time, Su Mo slammed the Great Guan Saber down, stabbing the butt end into the ground a full 30 cm, leaving it standing solidly.

He cracked his knuckles, fists slightly clenched, joints popping with crisp clicks.

With one explosive step, he dove in and punched—a Goblin head burst like a watermelon.

In just a moment, all six Goblins were dead, three punches and two kicks—easy sweep.

Checking his shiny new 6 Free Attribute Points, his mood was soaring.

For the next ten minutes, Su Mo just sang as he strolled deeper into the Goblin cave, mowing down little monsters the whole way.

Meanwhile, things outside were getting lively.

The two teachers stationed at the Trial Secret Realm's entrance looked about ready to blow a gasket.
