Chapter 75 – Gaining Energy Points & Monica's Appearance

The crude slur that used to be written across his forehead had been replaced with "Killer."
Though it was obvious that the first few letters had been scrubbed clean.
Up close, the smudges were noticeable.
From a distance, not so much.
Seeing Terry like this, William couldn't help but laugh.
"Fuck off, Terry," William said flatly.
"I don't have time to play with you."
Clearly, Terry was drunk out of his mind.
William had no interest in wasting energy on trash like him.
"Wait! You bastard!" Terry roared.
"Give Mandy back to me!"
He reached out, trying to grab William by the collar.
William sidestepped effortlessly.
Still drunk, Terry tripped over a barstool and smashed face-first into the floor.
A perfect pratfall.
"Tch. Garbage."
Shaking his head, William downed the beer on the bar in one gulp and walked out of the Alibi.

That little interruption aside, William headed straight to the real estate agency.
He signed the sales agreement and handed over $60,000 in cash.
After the payment, he was nearly cleaned out.
"Looks like I'll need to make some money soon," he muttered.
"But there's no rush. That sixty grand should come back to me soon enough."
With that thought, William opened the system interface and checked the [FireArms Procurement Mall], specifically the [Stock In] option.
[Ding! Minimum energy required for stock-in: 100 points.]
[Ding! Insufficient energy points detected. Please replenish energy points before proceeding.]
William frowned.
"Energy points? What the hell are those?"
"And more importantly—how do I get them?"
Staring at the system prompt, William frowned and questioned it.
[Please plunder energy points from beings that possess soul energy.]
William: "????"
Plunder.
What a choice of words.
He'd suspected something was off about this system for a while.
Now it was pretty clear—it really was problematic.
Still, as long as it benefited him, he didn't particularly care.
"System, what exactly qualifies as a being with soul energy? Do ordinary people count?"
[No. Only beings with a certain degree of special significance qualify—such as individuals closely tied to the fate of the world.]
"Closely tied to the fate of the world?"
William rubbed his chin.
So… plot-relevant characters?
"System, do Fiona, Theresa, and Mandy count as beings with soul energy?"

"What about Terry or Frank?"
[Yes.]
At that point, William nodded.
He had a rough idea of what "beings with soul energy" meant.
"So how do I actually obtain energy points from them?"
[The host may acquire soul energy by killing the target.]

William nodded again.
The moment he saw the word plunder, he had already guessed this answer.
As for killing—he didn't feel much psychological resistance to it.
He'd already dealt with two gangbangers before.
As long as the target deserved it, killing them felt no different from slaughtering livestock.
And people like Terry or Frank?
Pure garbage.
Killing them would practically improve the South Side's environment.
"System, what does the minimum energy requirement mean? What's the difference between using more or less energy?"

William was curious about other worlds.

"Bullshit," William muttered.
"Explain it properly. What makes a soul 'high-tier'?"

This time, William understood.
"System, are there any individuals with high-tier soul energy in the world I'm currently in?"

William's expression darkened.
That answer told him two important things.
First:
This world was definitively non-supernatural.
Second:
There were only two ways to gain more world connections.
Option one:
Use stock-in, get lucky enough to land in a supernatural world, then get even luckier and kill a powerful plot character to harvest high-tier energy.
Option two:
Pray that his existing world-connection opportunity linked him directly to a supernatural world.
Right now, he had zero energy—so stock-in was impossible.
That left only direct world connection.
But William wasn't in a hurry to gamble his life.
Sure, he had a pseudo-immortal setup—
Self-Regeneration, Disease Transfer, and Poison Immunity—
—but he lacked a reliable offensive ability.
Jumping blindly into an unknown world would be suicide.
At that thought, he remembered Karen's reward.

With that ability, he'd finally have a proper means of attack.
Suddenly, another thought struck him.
"System—Theresa looped time multiple times in a single day. That's a special ability, right? If I killed her, would I get high-tier energy?"
[Error.]
[Theresa's soul does not contain high-tier energy.]
[In Happy Death Day, time looping is not a supernatural ability.]
[It originates from scientific experimentation, as explained in Happy Death Day 2, where it is later developed by the FBI as a superweapon.]
[Therefore, the ability does not belong to Theresa herself.]
William fell silent.
At that point, he made his decision.
Whether it was stock-in or another world connection—
he would wait until he obtained Metal Manipulation first.
If a larger stage awaited him, there was no reason not to step onto it.
Bzzz. Bzzz.
His phone vibrated.
He glanced at the screen.
It was a call from the Gallagher household.
"Fiona?" William answered.
"What do you want this time?"
