Chapter 165 - 《Naruto: Ice God》Chapter 165: Jinchūriki and Jinchūriki

"Naruto: Ice God"Chapter 165: Jinchūriki and Jinchūriki

Minato really was romantic—even on official business, he didn't forget to bring Kushina some local specialties.

Carrying the beautifully wrapped gift, Feng Bai walked side by side with Kakashi, who had somehow grown a head taller than him, through Konoha's streets.

"Hey? Isn't that Feng Bai? Feels like I haven't seen you in ages—come by the shop when you have time!"

Passing the dango shop, the proprietress in the back kitchen spotted Feng Bai and quickly dropped her work to greet him at the entrance.

"Sure thing! I'll bring Asuma and the others along!"

Waving goodbye to the shop owner, Feng Bai's mood visibly brightened.

He even had energy to tease the two little followers behind him.

"Your tracking skills are terrible. I wonder what you've been learning lately~"

Feng Bai's voice reached them clearly, and the two figures hiding behind the utility pole instantly froze.

After a moment, Yamato forced himself to look composed as he poked his head out, dragging the bewildered Kabuto with him.

"Feng Bai-sama (Feng Bai-nii)." The two greeted him obediently.

"Really, what are you following me for?" Seeing through Yamato's fake composure—clearly panicked beneath the surface—Feng Bai felt mischievous and wanted to tease the little guy properly.

Yamato began organizing his words.

He'd only snuck out while Danzō was away, and after accidentally spotting Feng Bai on the street, he wanted to approach but feared Feng Bai would report him to Danzō. So he'd awkwardly followed from a distance.

Then he encountered Kabuto, who happened to be passing by.

The two ended up huddled together behind the same utility pole, only to be exposed by Feng Bai.

Kabuto was equally flustered. He'd just seen Yamato acting suspiciously and was curious what he was up to—he hadn't expected to encounter Feng Bai, whom he hadn't seen in ages.

How should they answer? ×2

Both kids fell into internal conflict.

Then Feng Bai grabbed both their cheeks from either side, giving them his signature greeting: "Alright, stop making things up. Let's go together."

Seeing Yamato's defeated expression made it all worthwhile.

Tossing the specialty gift to Kakashi, Feng Bai took both kids by the hand and headed toward Minato's house.

Wait, why Minato's house?

"Minato-nii and Kushina-nee are married?!"

Feng Bai let out a sharp cry.

"Yeah, what's wrong? I thought you already knew. Obito and I both attended their wedding."

Kakashi, whose ears were ringing from Feng Bai's outburst, stuck a finger in his ear.

"I-I see..."

Right, since Mikoto was already pregnant, Kushina-nee must have married Minato-nii by now.

Mentally berating his insufficient intellect, Feng Bai quickly changed the subject:

"Well, since we haven't seen each other in so long, let's have a dinner party at Minato-nii's place today. You two are lucky—you'll get to taste Kushina-nee's cooking."

Perfect excuse to delay meeting his old man.

Mission accomplished.

"Kushina-nee?"

The two kids tilted their heads, puzzling over this unfamiliar name.

They actually preferred Feng Bai's cooking—especially Yamato.

Since Feng Bai left, all he'd had were Root's standard meals.

After all, he wasn't Danzō's biological son, so naturally he couldn't enjoy Danzō's cooking.

"Since we're having a dinner party, why not invite Rin too?"

Feng Bai remembered his other teammates. Obito seemed to have left the village, so only Rin remained.

"Aren't you going to ask Kushina-nee first?" Kakashi looked somewhat exasperated at Feng Bai making decisions unilaterally.

"What's the problem? Kushina-nee loves lively gatherings. She'll definitely be delighted with my arrangement."

Feng Bai puffed out his chest confidently, making bold promises.

The result was—

"Feng Bai, you little brat!"

Seeing Kushina's hair rise like flying chains, Feng Bai resignedly closed his eyes.

Damn, what did I do to trigger her Blood Red Tomato mode?

Expecting to be beaten into a pulp by Kushina, Feng Bai was instead pulled into a fierce embrace.

"You little rascal, leaving the village without even telling me!"

"Uh..."

"'Uh' what? You still think you're in the right? Don't forget I'm your sealing jutsu instructor! Really, how come you don't seem to have grown much during your time away?"

"Uh..."

"Um, Kushina-nee, Feng Bai seems to be rolling his eyes." Seeing Kushina still not letting go, Kakashi weakly reminded her from the side.

"Oh my, sorry, sorry. I got a bit too excited."

Hearing Kakashi's reminder, Kushina belatedly released Feng Bai, apologizing with a guilty expression.

"Damn, I think I saw my mom just now."

[Isobu: I think I saw the Sage of Six Paths too.]

Both man and beast wore expressions of having survived a disaster.

In Kushina's mindscape, the tightly bound Kurama suddenly opened his eyes.

"This feeling... is that Isobu?"

Though he wanted to investigate, Kushina's bindings were simply too tight—no matter how Kurama struggled, he couldn't break free from her restraints.

"Damn Kushina! How dare you treat me like this!"

Seeing each of his nine tails lovingly wrapped in chains, Kurama's mood was absolutely terrible.

He really should have caused more trouble when Kushina's power was insufficient—at minimum, he should have plowed through all of Konoha!

Having spent decades of his beast life under the shadow of the Uzumaki Clan, Kurama deeply missed his life before meeting Madara.

Back then, he lived carefree, enjoying a blissful existence of eating and sleeping.

But after encountering that Uchiha Madara, he was inexplicably dragged into a duel with Hashirama, only to be forcibly sealed by Hashirama under the excuse of "Kurama, your power is too great."

Damn it, damn it all.

It was me getting grabbed by that giant Buddha's hand!

Me!

Who exactly has power that's too great?!

However, no matter how you looked at it, Hashirama had died not long after that battle.

Whether this was Madara's fault or Kurama's was impossible to determine.

But judging from Mito's handling of him...

She probably held a grudge.

Recalling past events, Kurama's resentment materialized and slowly merged into Kushina's chakra.

Sensing the Nine-Tails' disturbance within her, Kushina, who had been questioning Feng Bai, frowned and closed her eyes to enter her mindscape, where she immediately delivered a chain-made slap to Kurama.

"Behave yourself, Kurama!"

Kurama: ???

[Isobu: Hm? Strange, for just a moment I sensed Kurama's presence, and somehow he seemed quite... aggrieved?]

[Feng Bai: Oh, maybe that's because you're standing right in front of the Nine-Tails' Jinchūriki.]

[Isobu: Oh... but that's not right either. How could Kurama, who fears nothing in heaven or earth, possibly feel aggrieved?]

[Feng Bai: Tsk... maybe you should ask Kushina-nee about that.]
