Chapter 1 - “The Light That Watched”

Chapter 1.

Adrian was one of the biggest stars in the world — an idol with millions of fans, flawless vocals, and a smile that could melt anyone's heart. Onstage, he shone like sunlight; offstage, he was known for his warmth and sincerity.

In every interview, he would always say, "I'm nothing without my fans."

But among those millions, there was one fan who took those words too seriously.

Her name was Mira. She was quiet, polite, and seemingly ordinary. To everyone else, Adrian was a celebrity — to Mira, he was destiny.

She followed his career from the beginning, collected every photo, every magazine, every live clip. She could tell his mood by the tone of his voice, knew when he was tired just by looking at his eyes. Over time, her admiration turned into obsession.

When Adrian once mentioned that he loved sunflowers because they "always looked toward the light," Mira began sending him sunflower bouquets after every concert. When he said in an interview that he sometimes felt lonely after shows, she began writing him long, anonymous letters — comforting, poetic, and eerily intimate.

Then one night, during a livestream, Adrian read one of those letters aloud — a sweet but unsettling paragraph ending with:

"Even when you sleep, I'm watching over you. You're my light — and my shadow."

Fans laughed, making jokes in the chat.

But to Mira, it was a sign.

She believed Adrian was speaking directly to her — that he wanted to be found.

She began following him secretly, memorizing his schedules, watching from a distance. Eventually, she found where he lived — a modern high-rise apartment downtown. From the building across the street, she could see the faint glow of his living room light at night.

Then, one rainy evening, Adrian returned home after a concert. The hallway was silent except for the dripping water from his umbrella. As he unlocked the door, he froze — a trail of sunflower petals led from the entryway to his living room.

"Mira?" he whispered, remembering the name from the letters.

She stepped out of the shadows, holding a sunflower. Her hair was wet from the rain, her eyes wide and trembling.

"You said you're nothing without us," she whispered. "So I came… to make sure you're never alone again."

His chest tightened. "You shouldn't be here."

"But I love you," she said softly. "And you love me too. You just don't remember yet."

Security arrived moments later, alerted by his silent alarm. Mira didn't resist. As they led her away, she looked back at him with a broken smile.

"I just wanted to keep you safe," she murmured. "You're my only light."

After that night, Adrian stopped using his old phrase. Onstage, he still smiled — but now there was a trace of caution behind his eyes. When fans shouted "We love you!" he always answered, "Thank you… but please, take care of yourselves too."

And sometimes, when he passed a sunflower in a fan's bouquet, his hands would pause — remembering the girl who loved him too deeply to ever let him go.
