Chapter 2 - Luck stat of 5

While Wei Feng was going through the old Wei Feng's memories, his system had other plans.

[DING!]

Its golden screen pulsed with light, and new text began to scroll across its surface.

The system continued.

Wei Feng's lips curved into a grin. "Now we're talking."

Without hesitation, he mentally commanded, "Use one Healing Pill."

A small red pill materialized in his palm, appearing from thin air. It was warm to the touch and smelled faintly of herbs.

He popped it into his mouth and swallowed…if he was being honest, he was expecting it be bitter, but surprisingly…it tasted like mint…a cool flavored one at that.

Immediately, a soothing warmth spread through his body after the initial cool flavor faded away from his throat.

The burning pain in his throat began to fade, and the ache in his ribs dulled to a manageable throb. His breathing became easier, smoother.

"Daily quests, huh? That's gonna be rough in this body's condition, but it's doable. After all, I don't those debuffs on me for a full 24 hours." Wei Feng stretched carefully, testing his limits.

The original Wei Feng had been weak—malnourished and barely trained. His Body Refinement Realm cultivation was laughable even by outer disciple standards.

But Cory's muscle memory and fighting instincts were still there, buried in his core. And now combined with the system's assistance...

"I can work with this."

Wei Feng stood slowly, his legs shaky, but he could manage with that. He walked over to the small, cracked mirror hanging on the wall and examined his reflection.

The face staring back at him was that of a young man who didn't look twenty. He had a sharp jawline, dark hair falling messily over his pale skin, and hollow cheeks that spoke of malnutrition.

Yet his eyes...

His twin violet eyes burned with an intensity that didn't belong to the defeated Wei Feng who'd hung himself.

"First things first," he muttered. "I need to understand where I stand in this clan, and then I need to get the hell out of here."

Even though he knew what 'they' did to the old Wei Feng, he still has the urge to look around the clan before he leaves… After all, who wouldn't want to know how the old days look like before hitting the cold world outside it.

He pulled up his full status.

"Luck stat of 5? Damn, no wonder the original Wei Feng had such a shitty life."

Wei Feng dismissed the screen and glanced around the room. It was small, barely bigger than a janitor's supply closet. A single wooden bed with a thin, worn blanket. A rickety table with a chipped clay bowl. No windows.

This wasn't a room for a young master. This was a servant's quarters—maybe worse.

From Wei Feng's—the original's memories, he knew the truth…

The Wei Clan had once been powerful. His great-grandfather had been a Nascent Soul cultivator, a legend in the Azure Phoenix Empire. But he'd died twenty years ago in a territorial war, and without his protection, the clan had fallen.

Now, the Wei Clan was barely hanging on, reduced to a third-rate family in the outer regions of the empire.

And Wei Feng? He was the disgrace. Born with trash-tier cultivation potential, he'd been mocked, beaten, and cast aside his entire life. Even his own parents had given up on him, treating him like a stain on the family name.

While the weaker ones of the already broken family felt emboldened to abuse him. They finally had a way to take out their pent up frustrations of being consistently scorned…as for the elders??...they turned a blind eye to the treatment Wei Feng was subjected to.

"Yeah, fuck this place," Wei Feng said flatly. "I'm not staying here."

But leaving wasn't that simple. The Wei Clan compound was guarded, and as a "young master"—even a disgraced one—he wasn't free to just walk out.

He'd need a plan.

And resources.

Wei Feng's grin returned, sharper this time.

"Good thing I've got a System."

---

[NEW QUEST AVAILABLE!]

QUEST: Escape the Wei Clan

- Objective: Leave the Wei Clan compound without being captured

[Accept?]

Wei Feng didn't hesitate. "Accept."

[QUEST ACCEPTED]

[TIME LIMIT: 48 Hours]

[GOOD LUCK, HOST]

---

"Two days, huh?" Wei Feng cracked his knuckles. "That's plenty of time."

He sat down on the bed and closed his eyes, pulling up the *Iron Body Scripture* technique.

Information flooded his mind—the breathing patterns, qi circulation routes, body tempering methods.

It was... surprisingly intuitive. The System had implanted the knowledge directly into his brain, as if he'd been practicing it for years.

"Alright then. Let's get started."

Wei Feng crossed his legs and began to meditate, circulating the thin threads of qi within his body according to the Scripture's methods.

It was slow. Painful. His meridians were underdeveloped, and his qi reserves were pathetically small.

But...

It was progress.

[CULTIVATION IN PROGRESS...]

[IRON BODY SCRIPTURE ACTIVATED]

[QI CIRCULATION: STABLE]

[ESTIMATED TIME TO RANK 3: 72 Hours (Reduced by System Bonus)]

---

Hours passed.

Wei Feng lost himself in the rhythm of cultivation, feeling his body slowly…agonizingly so—growing stronger.

By the time he opened his eyes again, the room was darker. Evening had fallen.

---

[QUEST UPDATE: Survive Your First Day]

[TIME REMAINING: 18 Hours, 42 Minutes]

---

"Still got time," Wei Feng muttered. His stomach growled loudly, reminding him that this body hadn't eaten in over a day.

"Right. Food. That's gonna be a problem."

A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts.

Wei Feng tensed.

"Wei Feng?" A soft, feminine voice called from the other side. "Are you... are you alright?"

He recognized the voice from the original's memories.

'It's Xiao Ling.'

She's a maid. One of the few people in the compound who'd ever shown him kindness.

Wei Feng stood and opened the door slightly.

A young woman stood there…maybe eighteen or older.

with simple features so delicate yet so simple. Her brown eyes carried a worried gaze. She held a small tray with a bowl of plain rice and some vegetables. The simple plain white uniform did little to hide the slender waist that seems to dip into her well curved out hips beneath, and the trembling of her small hands…

"I... I heard what happened," she said quietly, glancing nervously down the hallway. "I brought you some food."

Wei Feng's expression softened slightly. "Thanks."

He took the tray, and Xiao Ling hesitated before speaking again.

"Young Master Wei... are you really okay? I mean..." She gestured vaguely at his neck, where faint bruising was still visible.

"I'm fine," Wei Feng said, his voice firm. "Just... had a moment of weakness. It won't happen again."

Xiao Ling looked unconvinced but nodded anyway. "Okay. Just... be careful. The servants are talking. They're saying you've finally lost it."

"Let them talk."

She bit her lip, then leaned in closer and whispered, "Also... I overheard something. The Steward is planning to report you to the Clan Head tomorrow morning. They're going to confine you to your room indefinitely."

Wei Feng's jaw tightened. "Is that so?"

"I just thought you should know." Xiao Ling glanced around nervously again. "I have to go. Please, stay safe."

She hurried away before he could respond.

Wei Feng closed the door and set the tray down, his mind racing.

"Confine me? Yeah, not happening."

He pulled up the System again.

"System, how much for a basic disguise item?"

---

"Perfect." Wei Feng purchased it immediately.

A small paper talisman materialized in his hand, covered in intricate runes.

Wei Feng smiled.

"Tomorrow night, I'm out of here."
