Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Does S.H.I.E.L.D. No Longer Distinguish Itself From Hydra?

"Excellent, excellent! Three good things at once!"

Du Mu was in a great mood. This Deacon Frost was truly a bringer of good fortune.

If the guy hadn't already been reduced to ashes, Du Mu would have invited him to the beach for a nice, long sunbath.

After all, his face was so pale—a clear sign of severe anemia. Some sun would definitely be beneficial for his mind and body.

Blade walked over and asked Du Mu, "Is Frost dead?"

Du Mu replied, "If he doesn't have a second stage, then he's definitely dead."

A hint of indiscernible regret flashed across Blade's face.

He wasn't regretting Frost's death, but regretting that he hadn't had time to dig out the several kilograms of silver bullets from the corpse.

Regarding the bizarre black flames that consumed Frost, Blade wisely chose to remain silent. Everyone had their secrets; probing deeper was pointless.

"Since Frost is dead, I should leave now."

Blade put away his silver longsword, put on his signature sunglasses, and returned to his cold, aloof demeanor.

[NPC Eric Brooks has left your party]

The system notification sounded.

Du Mu didn't pay it any mind, simply asking out of curiosity, "Where are you going? Add me as a friend, maybe we can team up again sometime."

To be honest, Du Mu had enjoyed teaming up with Blade these past few days. Teammates who actively let him have the kill were a rarity.

Blade was clearly used to Du Mu's way of speaking and automatically translated it into something he could understand.

"There's no need for contact information. I plan to head to other cities and continue hunting those vampire bastards hiding in the shadows."

Blade paused, his voice low and firm: "Besides that, I also need to find my mother. There are things I must ask her face-to-face."

"Uh..." Du Mu scratched his head guiltily. "Alright, well, I wish you good luck."

At S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters, Director's office.

Nick Fury rested his chin on his interlocked fingers, his expression severe.

"You're telling me you were sent to investigate a missing persons case, but you uncovered that the case was connected to a legendary vampire, and you subsequently wiped out the vampire syndicate in New York City."

"And in the process, you discovered that the vampire leader was holding a mysterious ritual to gain the so-called Blood God's power, aiming to lead the vampire race to conquer Earth."

"And finally, you intervened just in time to stop him, foiled the vampire's plot, and saved human peace?"

Du Mu gave a thumbs-up: "Worthy of the Director! A perfectly accurate summary!"

Nick Fury: "..."

For a moment, he didn't know what to say.

A missing persons case somehow spiraled into so many earth-shattering events.

The most absurd part was that by the time he learned about the incident, Du Mu had already wrapped up the entire affair!

It felt like making a wish on a shooting star and going to sleep, only to wake up and hear that the star almost triggered the apocalypse, and the whole world had experienced a terrifying night while he slept soundly.

Nick Fury rubbed his temples: "This was such a major incident, why didn't you notify me at the beginning?"

"No need. You would have just given me the follow-up tasks anyway, so I figured I might as well skip all that," Du Mu said, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Nick Fury: "?"

Who said I was going to give you the follow-up tasks?

If he had known it was related to vampires earlier, he would have mobilized S.H.I.E.L.D. agents that very day and used UV lights to disinfect those light-shunning creatures who dared to cause trouble in his territory!

However, Nick Fury knew Du Mu was a little off his rocker and couldn't be bothered to argue.

Besides, Du Mu had indeed handled the situation well. Apart from failing to notify him, everything else was done perfectly.

Still, Nick Fury was quite astonished that Du Mu had single-handedly taken down an entire vampire syndicate.

In truth.

Nick Fury had known for a long time that Du Mu possessed some sort of special ability.

After all, it was hard for Nick Fury not to notice something unusual about a guy who could instantly travel from thousands of miles away to S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters.

Moreover, Du Mu didn't even try to hide it, constantly performing tricks like making people appear, instantly changing clothes, and conjuring objects out of thin air right in front of him, essentially treating Nick Fury as invisible.

He only lost one eye, not all of them!

And so, one day, Nick Fury, in a fit of rage... only raged for a moment!

He couldn't help it!

Du Mu was simply too useful!

All he had to do was issue the mission, and everything else was taken care of by Du Mu. It was incredibly stress-free and efficient.

Of course, Du Mu occasionally caused some trouble and even strained S.H.I.E.L.D.'s budget significantly, but for an agent with a hundred percent mission completion rate, Nick Fury could grudgingly accept the financial cost.

However, Nick Fury hadn't realized that Du Mu's abilities were considerably stronger than he imagined.

The fact that he could even take down a near-immortal vampire like Deacon Frost was genuinely beyond his expectations.

Nick Fury narrowed his eye and slid a prepared file across the desk to Du Mu.

"This is your new mission. Once it's complete, the agency will evaluate you for eligibility to be promoted to a Level 6 Agent."

[NPC Nick Fury has issued you an Identity Advancement Mission]

[Mission: The Mystery of the Ninja]

[Objective: Investigate a mysterious organization called the Hand and retrieve important intelligence for Nick Fury]

[Reward: Qualification for Level 6 S.H.I.E.L.D. (Hydra) Agent Authority]

Interestingly.

The identity ranks for S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra were apparently interchangeable.

So, had these two organizations reached the point where they were indistinguishable from one another?

In the early hours of the morning.

Following the mission guidance, Du Mu arrived near a heavily guarded building.

Several security guards stood posted at the entrance. Every person entering had to undergo a strict inspection before being allowed through.

But this wouldn't stop Du Mu.

He crouched down, activated his Gravity Boots, and walked straight up the side of the building, effortlessly reaching the top floor.

Then, he pulled out his Master Key and easily opened the locked iron door on the roof, silently infiltrating the building's interior.

The hallway was dimly lit, but the pervasive cameras covering every corner were clearly visible, monitoring every position without a single blind spot.

The security measures were exceptionally tight.

Du Mu remained unperturbed, pulling a stylishly designed phone from his game inventory.

[Item: Hacker Phone (A phone from a top hacker, capable of easily infiltrating most electronic systems)]

Du Mu had previously used this Hacker Phone to successfully hack into Pierce's office system.

If it could bypass S.H.I.E.L.D.-level defenses, a commercial building's system was naturally no match.

After a few rapid taps on the screen, Du Mu successfully infiltrated the building's surveillance system, replacing the live feed with a looped clip.

"A truly perfect infiltration!"

Du Mu's lips curled into a slight smile. He was quite pleased with himself.

Let's see who dares to say I can only rely on 'Musou' now!

However, he had barely taken a few steps forward when a sudden, urgent alarm blared.

It was mixed with the shouts of the security personnel.

"Damn it! Someone's broken into the building!"

Du Mu: "???"
