Chapter 5 - An S-Class Quest?

Takeshi came before Makarov and asked, "Master, can I go do that job now?"

Makarov waved his hand. "Yes, go on."

This kid, he's very strong, but he's also a stubborn little brat, definitely another troublesome one.

Just then, Mirajane spoke up, "Wait a minute. Takeshi, you're a rookie and don't understand the quest procedures. I'll have Elfman accompany you."

"Elfman!" Mirajane waved at Elfman.

"What is it, sister?"

Elfman immediately came over when he saw his sister calling him.

"Elfman, Takeshi is a rookie and doesn't understand the quest procedures. Can you show him the ropes?"

"No problem. Leave it to the man Elfman." Elfman patted his chest.

It was common for veterans to guide rookies in the Guild.

"I'm Elfman. I'll be leading you on this quest."

"I'm Takeshi, please take care of me."

Although he had watched the anime, Takeshi was still unfamiliar with this world, and there were many places he had never heard of. It was good to have a veteran show him around.

"No time to lose, let's get ready and depart in half an hour."

Elfman was efficient and didn't procrastinate, which suited Takeshi's taste.

"Alright."

Elfman went home to get his luggage, while Takeshi waited at the Guild. Having suddenly transmigrated to this world, he had no luggage, so there was naturally nothing for him to prepare.

Mirajane then brought a large plate of fried rice to Takeshi.

"This... I didn't order anything."

Takeshi was actually already hungry, but he was short on cash and couldn't afford to eat.

Mirajane winked playfully and smiled, saying, "Eat up. It's free. You can't work on an empty stomach, and this meal isn't even on me. You earned it by beating Natsu just now."

Takeshi looked at Mirajane as if he had seen an angel.

Beautiful! Kind! Thoughtful!

What a pity not to marry her and take her home as a wife.

Macao, seeing Takeshi's expression from the side, said, "Another young man has fallen."

Wakaba nodded. "That's normal, who can resist the cute Mira?"

...

Soon, Elfman arrived at the Guild, and Takeshi had eaten his fill. This was the most delicious meal he had had since transmigrating half a month ago.

Takeshi and Elfman set off together. Along the way, Takeshi discovered that although Elfman was large, he was actually a talkative chatterbox, telling Takeshi many things about the guild members.

Like Gray was a pervert who always stripped off his clothes without realizing it.

Natsu was a troublemaker who always caused problems whenever he went out.

Cana was a heavy drinker who started drinking at thirteen. Her highest record was drinking ten barrels of alcohol at once, and thirty percent of Fairy Tail's annual alcohol consumption went into her stomach.

Loke was a playboy who had dated countless girlfriends.

Even the Guild Master didn't escape Elfman's complaints. He said he was an old lecher who often stared at young girls' bottoms.

Takeshi found it very interesting. In his mind, everyone's image became much more vivid and lively. The two quickly became familiar with each other.

After a day of long travel, the two arrived at the quest location.

"Hmm? What's going on?"

"What a grand display!"

At this moment, the area around the quest location was completely surrounded by the Magic Council's Rune Knights. The Rune Knights was primarily for apprehending criminal Mages and was entirely composed of Mages, equivalent to the Magic Council's official army.

They had now completely surrounded the mansion, allowing no one to approach.

The two prepared to go over, but before they could even get close to the mansion, they were intercepted by the Rune Knights.

"Stop! Who are you two?!"

"We are Mages from Fairy Tail, here for a quest."

"Fairy Tail..."

The squad leader saw that Elfman had the Fairy Tail Guild emblem on his neck and Takeshi had one on the back of his right hand, so he allowed them to pass.

"Go in."

The two followed the Rune Knights members inside. They soon met the client for this quest.

"Hello, I am the mayor of this city and the client for this quest, Cost. Let's get straight to the point." Cost said, placing a letter on the coffee table.

Takeshi picked it up and glanced at it. The envelope had words written on it:

"Three days later, your life will be taken! — Phantom Bandit Gang!"

"A threat letter?"

Cost nodded and said, "Yes. For some time now, the Phantom Bandit Gang has been wreaking havoc in this city, and many wealthy merchants have already been killed. The entire city is in a state of panic, and many citizens are worried about their lives, choosing to leave."

Elfman's eyes widened as he asked, "What about the Rune Knights? Haven't they caught them?"

Cost shook his head, his face full of worry. "No, they come and go without a trace, moving very swiftly. By the time the Rune Knights arrive, they have already left."

"This letter was delivered here three days ago, so I posted a request to the Mage Guild."

Takeshi frowned and said, "With so many Rune Knights members outside, they shouldn't be foolish enough to walk right into a trap."

Cost sighed. "Alas. If it were before, I would think the same, but recently I learned the identity of their leader, and I no longer think that way."

"The leader's identity? What identity?" Elfman was somewhat curious.

"The Spatial Mage, King of Assassins, Camille."

"What?!"

Elfman was greatly astonished.

"Who's that?"

Takeshi had never heard of this name, but the title sounded rather imposing.

Elfman said with a serious expression, "The King of Assassins, Camille, is a notorious Spatial Mage, the ace of the assassination guild, the God Slayer Guild. Because his magic allows him to come and go without a trace, and he has never failed an assassination, he was dubbed the King of Assassins."

"Later, the Magic Council dispatched a large army to destroy the God Slayer Guild, and he disappeared without a trace. I never expected him to become the leader of the Phantom Bandit Gang."

Camille was a seasoned Mage who had been famous for a long time and was extremely dangerous.

"Such a guy is too dangerous, this is not a 700,000 J quest at all."

Cost said, "700,000 J?! Oh. That was the previous request, wasn't it? Now I have upgraded the quest to S-Class, and the reward is 7,000,000 J."

"S-Class?!"

"7,000,000 J?!"

Elfman was shocked that it was an S-Class Quest, while Takeshi heard the 7,000,000 J. He began to calculate quickly in his mind.

1,000,000 J is equivalent to 10,000 dollars, so 7,000,000 J is equivalent to 70,000 dollars.

70,000!

Takeshi's eyes were already gleaming with the light of $$$.

"I'm sorry, a quest like this..."

Elfman immediately wanted to refuse. S-Class Quests were too dangerous and could only be taken by S-Class Mages. He had permanently lost his sister during an S-Class Quest, which was an eternal pain in his heart.

"We'll take it."

Before Elfman could finish speaking, Takeshi interjected.

"Eh?!"

Elfman was so startled his eyes almost popped out.
