Chapter 5 - The Sect Master

"Sold! This slave now belongs to the Sect Master of Cold Moon Sect!"

The auctioneer's voice rang out, and was met with deafening silence. Every single participant present looked shocked. Many eyes were wide and many mouths were hanging open. Then, like a spell had been lifted, mutterings broke out. Leo could hear a few people, and he managed understand the reason for their shock.

"What! Sect Master of Cold Moon Sect! Isn't the Cold Moon Sect an all-female sect, and men are shunned their?"

"Yeah. To join the Cold Moon Sect, one of the key conditions is that the disciple must let go of company of males, and vow to never fall in love, marry and have children in their life."

"Then how the hell did the Sect Master buy a male slave?! What's going on here?"

"I guess he is one lucky bastard, then."

I suppose I am a lucky bastard. I just wanted a quiet life, but it seems I've got a cold beauty trope on hands here!, Leo thought while cackling in his mind like a cartoon villain. But seriously, system, I don't understand. Why would an all-female sect's Sect Master buy me, a handsome male, as her slave?

[Host, according to the system's calculations, the most likely reason is the fact that you are a mortal. She may need a servant to do the chores, and as host cannot cultivate, he is a safe option to buy.]

[Of course, another possibility is that she has some connection to you and has a personal reason for this action]

Alright, I'll find out when I ask her, thought Leo. Then he allowed himself to be led out by the door-banging guard, to be brought before his new 'master.'

---

The guard 'escorted' Leo to the VIP room, fearfully knocked on the door(Seriously?! Not continuing your banging streak?!), and spoke, "Lady Frost, I've here is the slave you bought."

The same aloof voice emerged, "Tell him to come in and leave." The guy looked like he had received imperial pardon. He scurried away as fast as he could without making noise. Leo just shook his head, confused, and opened the door.

But, as soon as he stepped inside the VIP room, he froze. He couldn't help it. This woman was too beautiful. A slim, yet generous figure draped in ice-blue silk. An intricate silver necklace rested on the snow-like creamy skin of her neck. White, ghost-like silky hair fell beneath her shoulders. Her high cheekbones, delicate nose, exquisite red lips and frosty sapphire eyes that could could topple nations met his widened amber ones.

Then he composed himself, when a frown suggested her annoyance at his blatant staring. He lowered his head like an obedient slave and thought, Observe.

2nd Stage of Core Forging?! This woman can kill, no, obliterate me a flick of her finger!, thought Leo, alarmed. He instinctively took a step back. She asked, "What is your name, little boy?"

And that was it. Little boy. Leo was annoyed now. Even though she was over a hundred years old, even though she was extremely powerful, and even though he was a slave who could be called anything, Leo had never accepted his identity as a slave. He wasn't a slave. And he wasn't going to accept everything thrown at him with obedience. What kind of man was he, and what sort of pride did he have, if he just quietly let a beautiful woman call him little boy?!

Leo hesitated for split second, then smirked. As a modern-world keyboard warrior, he knew exactly the comeback. He knew he was going to suffer the consequences, but if he was going to be called a little boy, he might as well go out with pride. He straightened his back, raised his head, with his annoyance clear on his face, and said, "Leo Carter. Happy to serve you, old lady."

BOOM

The ice beauty lost her cool (pun intended), and the suffocating aura of a Core Forging cultivator burst out from her as she exclaimed, "What did you call me?!"

It was like Leo was lifting a boulder and standing in a storm. The power of her aura was too much for a mortal like him to bear. Even Body Refining cultivators would fall unconscious.

So blood spurted from Leo's mouth, as he fell to the ground, knocked out.

---

Shit, Celeste thought, as she withdrew her aura and immediately performed a healing Qi skill on the unconscious Leo. I forgot he is a mortal.

The reason for his bold words was clear to her. Pride. But she hadn't meant to insult him by calling him a little boy. It had slipped out.

She just… didn't know how to talk to men.

But still, she thought, he dared call me, a Core Forging cultivator 'old lady'! This guy sure has guts.

But as she looked at Leo floating in a cocoon made of her Qi, she, Celeste Frost, the glacier that men dared not conquer, cracked a small smile.

What an interesting man.
