Chapter 19 - Royal Court

The morning sun shone brightly over the capital. Sho was just finishing breakfast when a maid knocked gently on his door.

"Sho-sama, maid Lira here. His Majesty the King has requested your presence at the royal court. It seems your recent heroics have caught their attention," she said, bowing.

Sho's eyes widened. The royal court? For me?

> Ah… the Minotaur… they know I stopped it before it could rampage the city.

He quickly straightened himself, smoothing his tunic, and followed Lira through the winding streets toward the palace. The capital was alive with activity, but whispers followed him wherever he walked — merchants, guards, and commoners alike spoke of the young hero who defeated the A+ Minotaur that could have destroyed half the city.

Entering the grand palace, Sho was struck by the sheer scale of the royal hall. Tapestries lined the walls, golden chandeliers hung from the ceiling, and nobles in exquisite attire murmured among themselves, all turning to watch him approach.

A guard escorted him to a raised platform where His Majesty, the King of Varellis, and the Queen sat. Beside them stood Princess Arisa, calm and composed, her gaze piercing yet unreadable.

"Sho Ardenthal," the King began, voice echoing across the hall, "your actions have saved countless lives. The Minotaur you faced was of exceptional strength — A+ rank. Had it escaped the forest, it could have caused untold destruction. For this, the royal court wishes to formally recognize you."

Sho bowed deeply. "Thank you, Your Majesty. I only did what was necessary."

The Queen smiled warmly. "You have shown courage beyond your years. Your skills and composure under pressure are remarkable. We are proud to have such a capable young man in the kingdom."

Arisa stepped slightly forward, her silver-blue gown flowing elegantly. "Sho… your talents are extraordinary. I hope you will continue to grow, not just in power but in wisdom. There is much to observe in the royal court, and I expect you to be mindful of both allies and rivals."

Sho nodded, feeling a mixture of pride and pressure. This isn't just a reward… it's a test. A chance to see the kingdom and meet its powerful figures.

The King gestured toward the side of the hall. "A celebration will be held in your honor tonight. Nobles and adventurers alike will gather, and we hope you will join us to meet others who protect and serve our lands."

Sho bowed again. "I understand, Your Majesty. I will attend."

As he stepped down from the platform, whispers followed him: "The boy who defeated the Minotaur…" "So young and powerful…"

Sho kept his composure, but inside, his mind raced:

> A royal gathering… a chance to observe the nobles… and maybe… test the limits of my Domination Pulse in a controlled setting.

The princess's calm gaze lingered on him as he was escorted from the hall, and Sho felt a strange mixture of excitement and determination.

> Tonight will be interesting… and I need to be ready for whatever unfolds at the royal court.
