Chapter 12 - trying to make people really believe.

Selene bowed deeply and said. "Lord Tiamat, My Lady sends her regards and says that she thought considering the rapid development of your city, you may need my assistance for a while."

I was slightly taken aback, Luna sent her best warrior and commander to help me? What is she up to? I shook my head lightly, as I replied to her, my voice deep and resonant.

"Oh? That is thoughtful of her. Are you sure she can afford you not being there for her?"

"It is fine, My Lady is in no need of military personnel right now, considering the rise of Arcadia. This is just her trying to be helpful in return."

"Seemingly cold and aloof, but she really is misunderstood." I mumbled low.

"Very well, you can go to the newly rebuilt walls and help organise the militia. It is not much, but any training you can give them will be good, I was planning on creating a trained military, but I believe now is not the right time, the militia are enough to keep the peace."

She nodded in agreeance. "Very well, Lord Tiamat, I will spend a couple of days with them."

Selene walked out of my residence and headed to fulfil her orders.

"System, how much faith do I have now?"

"Host, you currently have 15%."

"Still only back to where it was originally." I said deflated.

"Host, remember, this is an era where faith is at its lowest, an era where the gods slumber and the people no longer believe. Even if those who claim that they still do, after not seeing the miracle of the gods, has dampened belief in them. The faith you are gathering now is weaker, because people are thankful to you and are in awe of your power, but they do not really see you as a god... yet."

As the systems voice echoed in my mind I thought it through. Maybe I need to just give them a slight miracle?

I've discovered something recently — I actually possess a few more laws. They're only small fragments, nowhere near the complete Law of Dragons I already hold. Each fragment barely reaches single-digit percentages, but they include the Law of Earth and the Law of Magic.

One of the reasons magic feels so natural to me, isn't just because of my race, but because of that fragment of the Law of Magic.

When the gods fell into slumber, many of the laws they once fully controlled — such as those belonging to the God of Magic and the Goddess of Earth, who both held one hundred percent of their respective laws, shattered during the war. Their control fractured, scattering fragments of those laws throughout existence.

It wasn't uncommon for multiple gods to share aspects of the same law. For example, the God of War might have held seventy-five percent of the Law of War, yet still retained his title because he possessed the majority share. This division mainly affected younger gods, but for the ancient ones — beings like the Goddess of Earth and Nature, born as a god with total mastery over her domain — even losing a small fraction of their law would be a devastating blow to both their power and their pride.

Gods can take laws from one another, either by killing the other god or through mutual agreement and transfer. Until the day I meet those slumbering deities face to face, I will continue to wield these small fragments of their power...

Lets use this fragment of earth law to help with agriculture, a place within the Arcadia which is in dire need of help. This should get people believing in me more fervently right?

--------------

I moved for the first time in weeks, as I utilised my Godcore to transform into my ancient dragon form, I then stretched my large and graceful body outside my residence, my gigantic form cast a large shadow over the now bustling and lively city below.

Compared to the first time I arrived, the people when they saw me flying overhead, reverently and respectfully bowed their heads or prayed.

I then soon arrived just outside the walls on the north side, where the only field in the surrounding area of the city was found. The ground was not that good to grow things and the farmers were struggling, probably the one thing that really needed a solution, but there just wasn't any.

Many farmers and their families started working in the other more bustling sectors of the cities economy. But if I want my city to be self-sufficient, I need to sort this issue out and not rely fully on the elves, even though our alliance has become much closer.

Also, getting to have people be more fervent and faithful to me, is a win-win.

As I landed in the near-barren field, I blotted out the sky with my sheer size, as the farmers came rushing out onto the hardened dirt of the field.

The oldest of them, who seemed to be in his fifties came to the front and respectfully bowed before speaking nervously.

"Oh Lord of Dragons! What noble reason could us mere farmers be graced by your presence?"

I looked at the man and said simply. "What is your name?"

He seemed shocked before saying. "Mark, Lord of Dragons, I am a farmer and have been my whole life."

My voice boomed throughout the environment; as our conversation had created a crowd. Perfect.

"If I was to heal this, barren, hardened land, would you be able to ensure our city stayed fed, Mark?" My voice resonated with a slight warmth of a god guiding their flock.

Marks eyes seemed to tear slightly as he said. "Oh Lord of Dragons, if you can bring a miracle to us farmers, I will ensure you now, not just me, but my whole bloodline will till these fields for the rest of time!" He then fell onto his knee.

I nodded simply, then with a bit of flare, used the earth law to slowly heal the land before the peoples eyes.

A green light covered the entire the field as the former dried, hardened and barren dirt, started to soften and grow thick green grass, as tall as the knee on a man.

Once the light receded, the people especially the farmers, looked on with obvious respect and increased devotion.

I thought to myself. 'This was worth it.' A little smugly.

"Mark, make sure to follow through on you pledge. As a reward for such devotion to me and your work, I will appoint a man of your years and experience to the position of Head of Agriculture for Arcadia. In the future, you will report to Charlie all things farming and food related."

Mark seemed to start shaking with uncontrolled emotion, as he slammed his head into the ground and said with even more devotion. "Oh! Great Lord of Dragons! Thank you! I will ensure my pledge is upheld for a thousand years! Thank you!"

I then, in front of everyone, blitzed into the air before they could register what happened, only feeling the warm breeze, as it hit their faces.
