Aria
To be honest, after meeting Caleb Reed in person, I feel uneasy right now, especially after he asked me to go out tomorrow.
"Is this going to be our first date?" I was lying on my bed when I suddenly sat up and hugged my pillow.
My face flushed when I thought about this first date issue, and I quickly shook my head to get rid of the strange thoughts that were filling my head at that moment.
"Aria! Remember that your goal in approaching him is to get revenge on Arden." I patted my cheeks gently, trying to bring myself back to my senses.
That's when I heard my cell phone ring loudly, and I frowned unhappily. I had received this call many times since leaving the Blake family home.
"Damn, that bastard still won't give up bothering me. What else does he want from me?"
Not wanting to be bothered any longer, I reached for my cell phone on the nightstand next to my bed to see who was calling me in the middle of the night.
Sure enough, it was Arden. I rolled my eyes lazily and decided to answer the call.
"Damn bitch! Where are you? Come back quickly, I'm tired of listening to Mom nagging because you're not home!"
"Didn't you see my divorce papers?" I rolled my eyes lazily. Actually, I didn't want to take this call.
But I was sure Arden would keep calling me like this if I didn't answer. After all, there was no way I could avoid him forever.
[I saw them and I don't care. I know you can't live without me. A useless woman like you would die out there if it weren't for me. So, come home right now before I change my mind and divorce you for real!]
I had to put my phone away for a moment because Arden was shouting so loudly. I didn't expect him to be this angry.
"God, I was really blind to have loved you in the past. If you're only calling me to spew nonsense like this, you'd better not do it again!" Full of resentment, I hung up the phone.
Feeling that wasn't enough, I threw my phone onto the bed. I jumped back onto my bed, covered my face with a pillow, and screamed loudly.
"How could Arden think that? They really think I'm a useless woman. If I weren't the young lady of the Lennox family, I'm sure what Arden said would really happen to me," I muttered after removing the pillow from my face.
I stared at the ceiling in my room with a distant gaze. I couldn't imagine what my fate would be if I were really just an ordinary woman.
I realised that people like Arden and the Blake family were hazardous; they could kill someone with just their words and actions.
I even felt that my mental state was completely destroyed when I was at their house. It wasn't easy for me to readjust to the life I once had with my family.
"Whatever happens, I have to make them pay dearly for what they've done to me all this time." I clenched my fists tightly, resentment and hatred beginning to well up in my heart.
. . .
I couldn't sleep last night because of Arden's call earlier. As a result, dark circles began to appear under my eyes.
"No! Because of that bastard, I couldn't sleep. And I have to go with Caleb today," I muttered softly as I descended the stairs to the ground floor.
"Hey, sis! You're finally back. I didn't think I'd see you again in this house."
From behind me, an arm landed on my shoulder. Without even glancing to the side, I knew who it was from the voice.
"Theo, stop bothering me. Why haven't you changed?" I glared at my older brother.
"Gosh, I'm also happy to see you again," Theodore replied playfully, then ruffled my hair before laughing and leaving me behind to go downstairs.
I tried to close my eyes to calm myself down while slowly fixing my long hair.
When I opened my eyes again, I could see my family gathered at the dining table for breakfast.
A warm feeling that I hadn't felt in a long time crept into my heart. I wouldn't be able to appreciate this moment if I hadn't experienced the hell that Arden had put me through.
I walked towards the dining table to join my family. Several servants were bustling about, serving our breakfast.
"I heard you're going with Caleb today. Is that true?" Theodore, who was busy with his breakfast, glanced at me sitting next to him.
I tilted my head to look at him, then nodded slowly.
"Yes, he said he would pick me up later. But I don't know where he's taking me," I replied briefly.
"That guy is really crazy. He's really chasing you again." Theodore refrained from laughing, replacing it with a disbelieving shake of his head.
"What do you mean?" I didn't understand, so I turned completely toward Theodore, waiting for his answer.
"Forget it, you'll find out later, little sister." Theodore just smiled broadly and shrugged his shoulders.
"Don't say that to me from the start if you don't want to explain it," I said irritably, hitting Theodore's shoulder lightly.
I heard my mother chuckle softly as she watched us.
"It's been a long time since this house has been this lively." Mother smiled brightly and looked at Father meaningfully.
Shortly after, father cleared his throat softly and turned to me, "I hope you don't cause any more trouble with the Reed family."
"I'm sure Caleb will explode with rage if he finds out you ran away from him again," Theodore replied, nudging my shoulder gently.
I glared at Theodore, "I'm not that stupid," I whispered softly to warn him.
Theodore teased me and went back to eating his breakfast. For the first time in three years, I was able to enjoy my breakfast without feeling so exhausted that I wanted to pass out.
. . .
Caleb actually came to the Lennox residence after lunch. I was surprised when the butler came looking for me because a guest had come to see me.
"You really came." I was stunned when I saw Caleb's towering figure.
"I'm not the type of person who breaks promises," Caleb replied with a casual shrug.
I rolled my eyes in annoyance because I knew who he was referring to.
"Give me a minute to get ready. I hope you don't mind waiting for me," I said with a wide grin.
"I've been waiting for you for too long, so waiting a little longer won't change much." Caleb waved his hand, telling me to get ready immediately.
I chuckled softly before turning back to my room to get ready. This is our first date.
