Chapter 4 - DISTASTEFUL BILLIONAIRE!

JENNIFER'S POV

I laid at the center of the bed, stretching my body to the end. I noticed neither my legs nor arm had touched the frame.

"This isn't my bed" I thought to myself.

"Kathy, Alex-" I called out softly but paused as soon as I pried open an eye.

I forced my feeble body to move and widened both eyes to assess my suspicions. I looked around and realized I was in an unfamiliar environment. The room was extremely large, about twice the size of mine. It had a huge wardrobe a few meters from the bed while the door was on the far end of the room. It also had another door on the adjacent side of the main one.

I returned my gaze to myself and my eyes immediately widened on noticing that I was putting on something different from what I had worn the previous day. I now had a black shirt and grey jogger pants on. My heart began racing, the last thing I could remember was me coming out of the club the previous day. How long have I been asleep for and where was I?

This place looked too luxurious to be a kidnap cell right?- I thought to myself. My mind was in a million places right now. A lot of thoughts popping in and out of my head.

"Where am I?" I murmured, unable to recollect some of the events from the previous day.

My mind was currently a mess, fragments of yesterday's occurrence was all I could remember. The events at Steve's apartment along with the guy I had met at the club yesterday were the highlighting factors in my memory.

I turn about mustering momentum to get up. A pair of slippers was perfectly arranged under the mini table beside the bed so I put it on and rushed to the exit.

My head still ached due to the alcohol I had consumed the previous day so I lessened my pace on getting to the door.

I had thought I was in a hotel due to the size of the room and its arrangement but on getting out, I was shocked to realize that this was actually a mansion, an extravagant one at that.

"The owner must be a wealthy billionaire of some kind." I thought to myself before proceeding to the stairs.

I hadn't noticed that the door just beside mine was opened and some seconds later a voice spoke from behind.

"I see you're up."

I turned around and found that the voice belonged to a woman probably in her mid 50s which was evident due to the strands of grey hair on her head. She had an apron on so I guess she was the one preparing whatever smelled so nice.

"Hi, I'm Jennifer. Are you the owner of this place? Please I would love to know how I got here, I mean I can't really recollect much. So-"

"Mr. Nate brought you home yesterday. You looked really wasted." She cut in and I bit my lower lips hard.

"Mr Nate?" I couldn't remember anyone I knew by that name.

"Here, have this. It would help with the headaches." She said and handed me some pills she had in her hand.

I put them in my mouth and she handed me the glass of water she held in her other hand.

"And where is this Mr. Nate if you don't mind." I asked with a worrying look. I began looking at what I had on and it looked like she could read my concerns.

"Oh," she laughed a bit and stretched one hand to receive the glass cup.

"If you're worried, I was the one who changed your clothes. Mr. Nate made sure of that so don't be worried."

"The other one was a mess so we had to get it washed." She added and came closer.

She walked down the stairs and I followed closely.

The house was larger from the ground floor. The living room was the first place you could see from the stairs. It had an exquisite setting that immediately gave off elegance. Several paintings were placed about 12 feet above the ground. Just at the far end, was a man with his back turned to me.

"I guess that's you, Nate." I murmured to myself and hastened my pace.

My feet paused just as I took the fifth step, I didn't imagine he was living alone but the amount of people I saw was mind blowing. It was almost like this was his private hotel or something. There were about three people currently cleaning the living room while four others were in the dining area serving him breakfast. The kitchen was just beside where he was and I could see some people in there. I looked at the window beside me and I saw some men cutting the grass and gardens.

"Wow." I spoke softly not wanting to draw the attention of the woman I thought was still close by.

"She has woken up Nathaniel."

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't realize that the woman had gotten to the diner and was

now beside him.

I hastened my pace and some seconds later I caught up.

Nathaniel turned and my face bore a shocking expression as our gaze met.

"It's.. it's you?" His face wasn't one that could easily be forgotten. I was now facing the same guy I had on my mind when I woke up. The same person who I didn't think I would ever see again after our moment in the club yesterday.

He was wearing grey pants and white striped baseball shirt that looked like it was about to rip from his bicep. He looked way better than I had envisioned him yesterday. His face looked like it was carved by ADONIS himself. His skin was fair, he had low brows and full lips. And his jawline, it was so strong it would cut through steel and I'm not kidding. His amazing black hair matched his eyes perfectly.

I gaze at him curiously till he breaks the silence.

"I see you're awake, why drink so much if you know you can't hold your liquor? It's so foolish of you. You're not a kid, you should be able to take care of yourself. Shouldn't you?"

I stood shocked by all I had just heard. I finally gathered whatever will I had left to break off my silence

"I should. I-"

"I didn't mean that as a question. It's more like an -Are you crazy?- but you don't reply if you are crazy."

"I beg your pardon." I can't believe I thought this man was actually cute. He didn't talk the way he looked at all. He was so uncouth. How dare he.

"You don't talk to me like that. Mr. Whatever."

"Mr. Whateve? You're in my house. I left something really important to me to come save your ass yesterday." He blurted out and threw his napkin to the other side.

"I don't really remember anything but I'm pretty sure I never asked for your help. Did I?" "What the hell?" He raised a brow.

"What do you call -taking an unconscious person to an unknown location- It's called kidnapping. KIDNAPPING!" I spoke and took a step back.

"Kid.. what? Does this look like the type of place they put captives?"

"You look, look around." He added and stretched his right arm pointing to surroundings.

"Errmm.. looks pretty much like it to me." I cut in, I wasn't going to give in to this rude, condescending guy. I still can't believe he spoke to me so harshly but I mean what do I expect after what he did yesterday.

"He isn't even honest to his emotions." I murmured then turned to leave.

"I'm definitely calling the police as soon as I'm out of here." I said as I walked up the stairs back to the room.

I hadn't even gotten upstairs when my stomach growled. I looked down at all the delicacies that were on the dining table. I was tempted to turn back but I didn't want to have a reason to talk to him.

I held my stomach tightly as I took the last step. I looked towards the room where the middle aged woman had come from hoping that someone else would be there but after some minutes of silence I decided to turn to my room.

"Wouldn't you like something to eat?" A familiar voice spoke. It was the woman from earlier, she had something in her hand.

"Yes I would please." I replied eagerly.

It would be evident from my expression that I was extremely famished. I left home absent breakfast yesterday and was so busy with work that I barely had time. I had planned to eat at Steve's place but I couldn't.

I tapped my belly as I followed her lead.

She opened a door just opposite the room I slept and we went in. It was like another apartment entirely. There was a living room probably half the size of the one downstairs but still maintained the same elegance.

I walked further, and there was a dining area. She placed the food on the dining table and walked to the fridge. She took out a jar of fruit juice and a bottle of water.

I waited for her to return and place them on the table before I settled down.

"You can take any other thing you might want." She said pointing in the direction of the fridge. There was something about the way she acted, it was evident she wasn't his mother but from

the looks of things she wasn't like the other workers either.

She left the place and I immediately shifted my attention to the meal.

I was so famished that I wasn't paying attention to notice that someone had walked in.

"They don't give this much food to captives now do they?" A thick voice spoke.

I squinted my eyes and bit my lower lips hard. He wore an annoying smirk and staring at his face made me cuss myself.

I just needed to grab my clothes and head home now.

He walked in and paused at a drawer a few feet from where I sat. He took out a book and turned to leave but paused just as he got to the door.

"Did you even ask how you got here?"

"You weren't curious about that?" He added and gave a disappointed look.

I felt a little weird for some reason, feeling the same way when he held me in his arms the previous day.

I quickly remembered how he behaved in the morning and changed my expression. "I'll give it to him, he has a way with words. That's surely his charm." I murmured.

He opened the door and someone else walked in. She wore a short gown that looked the same as the ones the women were cleaning earlier today had. In her hand was a bag which she handed to me.

I took out my white gown and shifted my attention back to her.

"Thank you so much."

"Yes ma'am." She replied and took the trash I had left on the table. She opened the bin beside the wall and threw it in.

"Ma'am? Girl, with all I've seen today we might actually be earning the same." I muttered and began emptying the rest of my things from the bag.

It didn't take long for me to get changed. I came out of the room and made my way downstairs. I looked around for the woman who I met but I couldn't see her so I made my way to the large double door at the end of the living room.

There was a man seated by the door who looked like he was waiting for someone. He shifted his attention to me as soon as I approached.

"I've been instructed to help you home safely."

"Thank you but I don't need that." I opened the door and made my way out.

The compound was very large and had a fleet of different models of cars. I wasn't really a car person but they all looked exquisite and expensive. With all I witnessed today, I wasn't so shocked. I could see about 13 cars from where I stood.

"Mr Nate said I should use this to drop you off." The man from earlier spoke again and rushed to open a car not far from where I stood.

"Tell him not to bother, I can get home by myself." I walked past where he stood and made my way to the gate.

I took out my phone as soon as I got outside. I had a lot of missed calls from Kate and Alex but I wasn't going to call back right now. I booked a ride and walked towards a large gate not so far from where I was.

My ride came sooner than expected and I got in. I rested my back on the seat and it felt like I could finally breathe freely.

I can't wait to get home!
