I bellow as the elevator doors slam shut, that blank look in her eyes searing itself into my goddamn soul.
Then I snap.
I whirl, fingers locking around Rafael's collar, yanking him forward.
"Michael!"
Lorenzo jolts at my outburst, grabbing my shoulder, but I shake him off and tighten my grip, choking Rafael. But the fucker remains unruffled, staring at me through empty grey eyes.
"How could you do that?" My voice comes out guttural, barely human. "I fucking told you I needed to talk to you first before we involved Aldo."
His hands come up to mine, irritation finally flickering into his eyes when I don't release him immediately. He shoves at my grip, and I let him go. "I didn't realize you had grown so attached to her," he says, straightening his shirt like I didn't just have.him by the throat. Then he turns and walks into his living room, already done with the conversation.
