The scenery outside the window was sleek and futuristic. Clara, who had somehow transmigrated into the body of a young girl named Rain, was watching it all go by. She was traveling in a PTV (Personal Transportation Vehicle) with her father, who was driving her to school.
'Who could have thought I would transmigrate into the world of Shadow Slave?' Rain thought, the terrifying reality setting in. 'If I knew this beforehand, I would have read the whole freaking Novel from Mike!'
She looked at her father, who was simply focused on the drive. Her past ambition warred with her present predicament. 'I had become the owner of the BWB Group by all means, even if the moves I made caused me a lot of regret. But now I am in the body of a 13-year-old girl, and trapped in a dangerously fantastical world.'
Rain had never read the Shadow Slave novel herself, but she had pieced together the basics from what she remembered Mike, Martin (Alista Tudor), and Rebecca (Fors Wall) discussing.
Her face grew solemn as she remembered the friends she had betrayed. She hated her actions, but in her view, they had been necessary to achieve her singular goal. She muttered the ultimate justification to herself: "Ends justifies the means… it is always the ultimate truth."
She remembered the look of hatred when she had encountered Martin and Rebecca at the cemetery. If not for her bodyguards, Martin would have killed her. She understood their rage, but they didn't know about her past—how Mike's father had betrayed her parents and seized her rightful wealth years ago.
The PTV stopped. Rain dropped down. Her father spoke, "Have a good day." Rain nodded and looked at the school. It was massive but not reinforced like the Awakened Academy. She cruised through the crowd and went to her class.
The school day went according to Rain's adopted memories. The classes included History, Combat Classes, STEM Classes, and so on.
Rain knew some of the history was distorted. For example, the people of the Age of the Spell described life before the Spell as a time of violence-loving maniacs. 'Clearly, these guys have no idea what they are talking about,' Rain thought with an internal scoff. 'Whatever, I need to figure out what happened to me.'
During the break, Rain was surrounded by her friends. She tried meticulously to imitate the original Rain's previous behavior to ensure they didn't notice the sudden, drastic difference in her personality.
As they were talking, one friend named Elena spoke up excitedly. "Hey, remember, my father works at the Awakened Academy, right?"
Rain and the others listened with instant interest.
Elena continued with a hint of gossip. "This time, there are two people with True Names revealed in their Nightmare: Changing Star and Blood Emperor."
Rain's brow furrowed. 'If I remember correctly, there was only one person whose True Name was publicly revealed in the story: Changing Star. But now there are two. Is this an Interference? Is there another Transmigrator like me?' Rain pondered this unsettling thought for the rest of the class.
Rain completed her classes and returned home. Her mother greeted her warmly and prepared her favorite snacks. After freshening up and indulging in the normalcy of the meal, Rain went to her room and immediately began to map out the limited knowledge she had about this world and the novel's original plot.
After writing everything down, she looked at her detailed analysis board.
"This Sunless has a sister who was adopted at the early stages of his life," she muttered, reviewing the tragic backstory. "What is the probability of me being his sister? Most likely, the naming sense alone [Rain/Sunny] is a signal. Yet, I don't want to alter anything without knowing the future. Moreover, I am not the original Rain. It is better to avoid him."
She then focused on the twin True Names: Changing Star and Blood Emperor.
"I tried to recall, but there is no name Blood Emperor in the original plot. He is most likely a fellow Transmigrator like me, but I can't be sure."
She thought for a moment, strategizing how to confirm the existence of another transmigrator. "After some time, Changing Star's popularity would skyrocket. If there are any significant changes from that trajectory, I can be sure that the Blood Emperor is also a transmigrator like me."
As she listed the known events and analyzed the points, she came to a chilling conclusion.
"This Spell seems to be more like a program than a natural disease or phenomenon."
She then continued, focusing on her survival. "I need to make sure that I am also infected [by the Nightmare Spell]. Only by getting the Power can I achieve what I want, which is to return to my world."
She started listing the necessary resources, potential weapons, and strategies. Finally, after making her preparations, she lay down on her bed.
"I will find what had happened, whatever it takes," Rain vowed to herself, her determination cold and absolute.
