Chapter 79 - Chapter 78 - Wall of Ice

Sitting in a chair while combing her hair, Daenerys looked at Cadmus lying shirtless on the bed. As there was a spell around during Cadmus and Jeor's conversation, Daenerys hadn't heard anything, so she was somewhat curious about what Cadmus was doing in this cold and deadly place.

She asked in a casual tone, "What did you come to do at the Wall?"

"The salvation of the world." Cadmus, who was reading the inheritance book from the Harry Potter universe, commented in a calm tone as he looked at the description of the creation of the Philosopher's Stone.

Nicolas Flamel was truly crazy when he was young. Turning stone into gold was merely the most futile thing the stone did; the most important aspect of the Philosopher's Stone was its ability to extend a person's lifespan.

Just as Nicolas Flamel and his wife, Perenelle, lived to be 696 years old.

Of course, the reason Cadmus thought Nicolas Flamel was crazy when he was young was the material used to create the Philosopher's Stone. Obviously, to create such an incredible object that could even extend a person's lifespan, the price was enormous.

And it truly was. From the inheritance Cadmus received, the alchemist used the lives lost in the Black Death to create the Philosopher's Stone!!!

Ten million bodies used to create a tiny stone!

Cadmus presumed that if it weren't for the limitations of the time, Nicolas would have gathered all the bodies and made an even larger Philosopher's Stone. If that isn't synonymous with madness, he didn't know what was the best way to evaluate the legendary alchemist.

However, Cadmus had to admit, if you want your name to be remembered in history, you must be ready to be cruel to others. Kings used wars to be remembered, dictators used mass deaths to build their thrones, assassins kill innocents to be recognized by the people.

It's as they say, good news doesn't travel far, but bad news spreads across the entire planet.

(Note: This is not wrong, the world's view of the United States is terrible. I'm not kidding, you are known for many bad things, just as my country and other countries are also known for many bad things and stupid stereotypes. We only know bad things about other countries, never the good things.)

"Salvation of the world?" Daenerys stopped combing her hair and turned, looking curiously at Cadmus. Her eyes shone, full of curiosity. Which, honestly, was quite normal. Anyone would be curious about that.

Cadmus never hid his plans from Daenerys; this wouldn't be the first time. However, he put the inheritance book aside and opened his arms, his eyes gazing at the girl in a thin nightgown with a smile.

Daenerys knew his intentions and didn't mind; she was even happy. She could see that Cadmus really enjoyed her presence, especially when the two embraced. She felt that time passed too quickly when they were together.

Crawling onto the bed, Daenerys's hair fell and dragged on the sheet. She moved forward, climbing onto Cadmus's body and finding the most comfortable position, she hugged him and rubbed her cheek against his chest as if she were a lazy cat.

Feeling the warm skin, the strong muscles of his chest, and the unparalleled sense of security, Daenerys let out a comfortable sigh. Even in the cold of the north, she was warm and comfortable. She truly loved this feeling of skin-to-skin contact. It was as if they were two people in one body.

Caressing Daenerys's hair, her soft locks easily slipped through his fingers. Cadmus looked at the girl who was extremely comfortable on his chest and couldn't help but feel proud; his ego was fully fed at that moment.

"The salvation of the world..." Cadmus explained in a gentle tone while appreciating the small, warm body lying on his chest.

Daenerys listened calmly, but her eyes were extraordinarily bright, as if white flames burned impregnably in the depths of her eyes. She had already heard about the Long Night from Cadmus, but she didn't expect things to be so complicated.

"Since we're going to save the world, we have to save it right." Cadmus said with a laugh. In his eyes, the world needed to change, Westeros needed to change. Instead of expelling the Others, he wanted to exterminate this filthy race from the face of the planet.

"This race really must be destroyed." Daenerys said in a firm tone. Faced with a race that can revive the dead and use them as an army, there was no other option but genocide. Even not knowing much about military matters, she knew that an army that felt no pain, didn't need to eat or rest was terrifying.

"Yes, especially with the aversion these beings have against the human race." Cadmus deeply agreed with Daenerys's words. He wasn't Hermione, who only saw the goodness of House-Elves who had been enslaved for millions of years.

When he read the books, he found it so foolish that he wanted to slap the girl's face to make her wake up to true reality. Who in their right mind would believe that a race enslaved for thousands wouldn't harbor resentment?

Just thinking about the House-Elves' ability to apparate without a wand, Cadmus knew that these small creatures were perfect assassins. And they truly were, especially during the Dark Wars, where races fought each other. House-Elves were enslaved for losing the war, not just for being a different race.

"However, we have a big problem." Cadmus said in a calm tone. "The Others are practically the children of a god."

"What do you think he will do when his children are in danger?" Cadmus asked with a smile.

"Attack us." Daenerys replied in a solemn tone. Gods exist, that was no secret; there were beings beyond human comprehension. As for the goodness of the gods, Daenerys preferred to believe that a murderer was kinder than these supposed gods.

After all, the amount of blood of innocent children of House Targaryen was too great. Gods were not benevolent, and Cadmus was right, humanity was like cattle in the eyes of the gods. It didn't matter if tens of thousands died; in a few decades, others would be born.

"Exactly." Cadmus smiled, satisfied with Daenerys's answer; the girl showed no fear even knowing of a god's wrath. Anyone else would be trembling and pale. "That's one of the reasons I simply don't cross this Wall and destroy all these filthy beings."

Cadmus didn't want to risk his own life and enter enemy territory; it was pure stupidity. Using one's life to guess a god's thoughts was not something an intelligent person would do, but rather a brave warrior. Unfortunately, he was a wizard and he was intelligent.

"That's why we have to reinforce Castle Black and even the other checkpoints along the Wall. All must be reinforced and weapons put in place to attack at any moment. A defensive war is essential and primary for us." Cadmus spoke in a calm tone.

"As long as we are on the Wall, we can kill the enemy, and they cannot revive the dead to increase their numbers." Cadmus said with a malicious smile. What was a necromancer's biggest problem? The lack of corpses!

"The longer we stay safe behind the walls, the more the enemy's numbers will decrease, and they won't be able to replenish the number of dead, becoming fewer and fewer in number. And when they no longer have a large number of undead, we can attack and destroy them all at once." Daenerys spoke, her eyes practically shining at that moment.

"My princess is truly intelligent." Cadmus said with a smile, claiming a chaste kiss on Daenerys's lips.

Feeling the soft touch on her lips and hearing his compliments, Daenerys showed a proud look on her face. "Of course I'm intelligent, much better than my two stupid nephews."

Cadmus laughed at Daenerys's words; Maekar and Aegon really weren't that intelligent. One was a warrior, and the other was... a spoiled prince. Both were not exactly the pinnacle of human intelligence, especially Aegon.

The prince had everything in his hands but simply did nothing to consolidate his future crown, thinking that everyone should respect him just because he was a prince. This was such great foolishness that Cadmus looked at Aegon with contempt.

"Speaking of your nephew, he probably wants to take me to his bed." Cadmus said with an amused tone, remembering Aegon's flirtations and glances. The boy dropped all the hostility he had towards him and became quite insistent on approaching him.

A cold look reflected in Daenerys's expression.

"He dares to set his eyes on my man?" She murmured with a terribly icy look; there was a smile on her lips, but that smile was as icy as her gaze.

Seeing this, Cadmus was satisfied. The only reason he told Daenerys this was that he really didn't want to deal with Aegon; the boy was annoying and, on top of that, extremely insistent. He didn't know or simply ignored his rejections.

"Don't worry, he will learn not to covet my man." Daenerys said in a calm tone, but Cadmus could feel the hidden anger in her words. The princess was truly furious this time. She could accept Cadmus marrying Rhaenys or Naerys, as it would help House Targaryen, but she could never accept Cadmus having an affair with Aegon.

"You look so beautiful when you're possessive." Cadmus said with a laugh and hugged Daenerys tightly.

The icy look on Daenerys's face melted like snow exposed to the sun; she smiled and looked at her future husband with a passionate gaze.
