Chapter 10 - CHAPTER 10:YUTO TRAINING ENDS

The wind whispered across the cliffs of Mount Raizen, carrying the sharp scent of incense and sun-warmed stone. At the temple's summit, Yuto stood frozen, hands trembling slightly as the morning heat pressed against his skin. Scars from his last battle traced across his arms, but a deeper fire stirred inside him—a question that refused to be silenced.

Why had Master Yuzi said that the Sun Power was waiting for him?

Inside the temple, golden lanterns glimmered like trapped suns. Master Yuzi sat cross-legged before a massive altar carved with rays of light, upon which rested a single crimson-bound book. Its pages shimmered faintly, emitting a soft warmth that made the air hum.

Yuto stepped forward. Yuzi's eyes opened, calm but piercing.

"This, Yuto," he said, "is The Legend of Yoko. The record of the last Sun Warrior—the one who walked inside the sun and returned as its flame."

Yuto's breath caught. "The first Sun Power user?"

Yuzi nodded. "Yes. The one who gave life to all other elements. But his gift consumed him from within. Since his fall, no one has dared touch the sun's heart… until now."

Yuto bowed. "Then let me try. Let me earn it."

A faint smile curved Yuzi's lips. "You may try. But to awaken the Sun Power, you must first learn the Sun Breath—the rhythm that fuels it."

The courtyard was silent except for the rustle of hot wind. Yuto stood in its center, eyes closed, as Yuzi paced, staff tapping the stone.

"Fire Breath is destruction," Yuzi said. "But Sun Breath—it is creation. It burns, and it heals. You must learn to carry both."

He stopped behind Yuto. "Inhale the light. Exhale the shadow. Do not breathe air—breathe the world."

Yuto obeyed.

He inhaled slowly, drawing the warmth into his chest. The air shimmered, heat crawling beneath his skin. His lungs expanded, veins thrumming with molten energy. Light seemed to pull toward him.

When he exhaled, it backfired. His knees buckled, and he collapsed, gasping. Steam curled from his lips.

Yuzi didn't move. "Again."

Hours passed. Yuto forced himself upright, sweat stinging his eyes. Each breath drew him deeper into the rhythm, each exhale more controlled. Pain seared through every nerve, yet he pressed on, matching the silent cadence that Yuzi intoned.

"The sun's breath is not power," Yuzi said. "It is balance. Control it, or it will consume you."

The stone beneath him cracked under the heat of his efforts. His body glowed faintly, veins aglow, chest pounding, vision blurring—but he remained, tethered to the rhythm.

At last, as the horizon swallowed the final rays of sunlight, Yuzi raised a hand. "Enough."

Yuto collapsed, body steaming, heart pounding with warmth that no longer hurt.

"You've done it," Yuzi said, eyes soft. "You've taken your first step toward the Sun. That rhythm inside you—never lose it. It will guide you through every flame to come."

That night, the stars emerging in the sky, Yuzi placed the crimson book before him. "Now, you may read."

Yuto knelt, fingers brushing the glowing cover. Warmth spread through him, alive. The letters shone faintly as he opened it.

"When the skies turned black and demons swallowed the dawn, one man stood against the dark. His name was Yoko—the Dawnbringer."

The story unfolded—a warrior who burned his fear into light, who bore creation in his own flesh. Yuto read until his eyes stung, until the air around the book began to hum.

Golden light burst from the pages. The temple trembled.

"Master! The book—!"

"The spirit of Yoko tests you," Yuzi said. "Stand your ground. The sun itself watches."

From the golden blaze emerged a figure of pure light, a warrior in radiant armor. His voice rolled through the chamber.

"I am Yoko. Bearer of the First Light. Show me that you can hold my flame."

Yuto's katana pulsed red fire, yet he felt no fear—only the weight of expectation.

He inhaled, slow and balanced. His heartbeat matched the rhythm of the world. "Sun Power—First Technique: Dawn Pulse."

Golden light coursed through him. The figure of Yoko regarded him, nodding faintly before dissolving into sparks.

"You have taken the first step," Yuzi whispered. "Rise beyond me."

The temple fell silent.

In the days that followed, Yuto trained relentlessly, breathing beneath waterfalls, on cliffs, and inside ovens of sunlight Yuzi had forged. Each session refined his control, each inhale and exhale a negotiation with the sun itself.

By the seventh day, Yuto stood atop the temple roof at noon, the sun an unrelenting blaze overhead. Yuzi's voice called behind him.

"Move with the sun's rhythm—not ahead, not behind."

Yuto centered himself, body trembling, mind clear. The world slowed. Light bent around him as he whispered, "Sun Power—Second Technique: Solar Step."

He vanished, reappearing silently behind Yuzi, blade sheathed.

"Good," Yuzi said. "The sun does not rush. It shines. And everything follows."

Weeks later, the final trial awaited. Beneath the temple burned a sphere of golden fire—the Heart of the Sun.

"To wield true Sun Power," Yuzi said, "you must walk through it. It will destroy you… unless you accept what you are."

Yuto stepped inside. Pain seared through him, yet the rhythm of the Sun Breath anchored him. Memories—his sister's laughter, his friends' trust, Yuzi's calm voice—coursed through him.

"I burn not for destruction, but for life," he roared.

The flames shifted, red melting into radiant gold. The sphere erupted in light, and Yuto emerged, eyes twin suns, aura steady, warm, and alive.

"You've mastered the Sun's Breath," Yuzi said, pride in his gaze. "Third Technique: Solar Heart."

That night, the world itself seemed brighter. Watching the sunrise, Yuto bowed. "Master… thank you. You gave me purpose."

"No," Yuzi whispered. "You gave it to yourself. The sun shines because it must. You shine because you choose."

The wind lifted their robes. A new day began. Yuto's golden eyes reflected the sky—steady, alive, unbroken.

The Sun Warrior had returned.
