Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Holy Lord, You Useless Old Relic—Shh, Keep Your Voice Down

From the start, the girl wasn't Su Tang's target.

It was obvious she was a pervert—the kind whose brain hadn't fully developed—or else she had some other peculiar mental illness.

That's perfectly normal for a demon contractor.

If you're sick, you should be treated.

So although Su Tang had deliberately lowered the current to keep her from dying, it was enough to knock her out for a few hours.

As for what came after—what price she would pay for her crimes, whether she lived or died—none of that concerned Su Tang. That was for Public Safety—Japan's official devil-defense department—to deal with.

His target was the one hiding behind the girl, the one who had signed a contract with her.

The Leg Devil!

"Hee-hee…"

A susurration suddenly rose from all around the house.

Like a snake twisting across the floor, like the alternating sprint of countless insect legs.

Frowning, Su Tang looked at the girl's body on the desk. The beautiful legs at her sides detached, blood and all, floated into the air, and lined up quietly.

The unsupported girl slid to the floor. In her place appeared a gigantic human-faced centipede fully four meters long!

Its thick body was as big around as an ancient tree needing two people to encircle it. Coiled up, it nearly filled Su Tang's vision to the brim.

The legs floating in midair seemed to find their owner at once and rapidly "grafted" themselves onto the centipede, making an already terrifying image even more abstract and twisted.

"Human…!"

The centipede raised its upper body. A face like a human's looked down at Su Tang, the shadow it cast covering the whole area completely.

"Leg Devil…?"

Head tipped back, Su Tang sized up the hulking form before him, his tone tinged with hesitation and doubt.

He wasn't so sure anymore.

Looking like this… aside from the dense human legs, what else connects you to the title "Leg Devil"? Everything else looks more like a Centipede Devil!

Of course, for devils, form isn't important. No matter how bizarre they look, that's fine. What truly puzzled Su Tang was the other party's strength.

As everyone knows, a devil's power correlates with human fear. The more humans fear it, the stronger the devil.

But "legs"… is that really something people fear?

A "Leg Devil" born from fear of legs shouldn't exert this much pressure, no matter how you slice it.

Perhaps angered by his tone, the Leg Devil let out an inexplicable roar, then lifted a forward foot and stomped down at Su Tang.

It was the same tender foot under size 40, but the speed and momentum of the descent were nothing like that earlier kick from the girl!

Su Tang's pupils shrank. He dropped into a squat and ducked under the desk.

"CRACK—!"

Bits of springing wood shot out in all directions; one piece smacked into Su Tang.

"Damn! I just laid that hardwood!"

Looking at the flooring shattered into fragments, Su Tang felt his heart bleeding.

Name brand. High-end!

Sell the Leg Devil and it still wouldn't cover it!

There was good news, though.

Only the hardwood broke; the concrete beneath was undamaged.

Coupled with the force of the piece that had bounced into him, Su Tang could draw a conclusion:

Strong, but not that strong.

For a "Leg Devil," the force displayed here definitely exceeded the baseline, but not excessively—not to the degree he'd imagined.

Good. Then finish this quickly.

From beneath the desk, Su Tang focused. From this angle he could see the Leg Devil's lower body—the vital spot wrapped in countless legs.

Also its weak point.

All he had to do was drive the electronic sword in there to end the fight at once.

Just as he formed that thought, the shadow on the floor beside him changed abruptly.

He darted out from under the desk. A heartbeat later came that familiar crack.

"Damn! My black-walnut office desk!"

That desk alone cost at least a million yen! Custom-made!

His heartache was answered by the devil's booming laugh.

"Human! You're a damned devil hunter, aren't you! Why don't you use your accursed abilities? Did you see my beautiful legs and get so captivated you can't bear to, hahahaha!"

"Idiot. I told you I'm not a devil hunter."

Su Tang held the electronic sword steady, unmoved by the taunt.

Why didn't he use his ability?

Because that old relic the Holy Lord was too useless.

Sealed away, no Talismans in sight, even his fire aspect was incomplete.

So the powers Su Tang obtained via his contract with the Holy Lord were nerfed. He could make fire but couldn't recall it. Burning the Leg Devil to death wouldn't be a problem, but burning down the entire clinic would be a loss of hard cash!

Setting a fire in his own place—Su Tang wasn't crazy enough for that.

And he didn't need fire to deal with this Leg Devil anyway.

Eyeing the weak spot wrapped layer on layer, Su Tang grinned. "You want to kill me?"

"You deserve death, heretic of the Black Stockings!" The Leg Devil's rustling voice, like legs rubbing together, sounded out. "I only wanted your pair of legs at first. I didn't expect you to betray bare feet! Damn heretic!"

So it's over something like this.

That makes it easy.

Meeting the centipede's gaze, Su Tang's smile deepened. "In fact, my tastes are rather broad. I like black stockings, and I also like white stockings, sheer skin-tone stockings, ankle socks, fishnets, garter belts, leg rings, half-skirts…"

With each item he named, the Leg Devil's rage flared higher.

"Sorry, but bare feet just aren't my thing."

The finisher.

The weaker the devil, the easier it is to lose reason.

Like the Leg Devil before him.

"AAAAHHH! Stockings faction, leg-ring faction… anyone not bare-footed can all just die!"

It was the Leg Devil, not a Stockings Devil or a Fishnet Devil. Naturally it maintained absolute loyalty and love toward "legs."

The thought of purging heretics seized its not-so-spacious brain in an instant. Fueled by rage, it activated all its legs and launched at Su Tang.

Including the legs protecting its weak point.

"See? That's setting the fire successfully."

Who said fire had to be literal flames?

Already prepared, Su Tang slipped through the split remains of his desk and hurled the electronic sword—hitting dead center!

It drove in deep.

As everyone knows, kill a devil and it dies.

The Leg Devil's scream cut off.

Phew, finally done.

Su Tang exhaled. Just as he was about to tally the damages, a familiar shattering crash flooded his ears.

This time it was bigger. Louder!

From overhead!

He instinctively looked up and saw a blood-red giant hammer plunge down through the roof and smash into the Leg Devil's corpse.

A manic, brazen female voice followed:

"Hahahahaha! I just opened for business today and already one-shotted a devil!"
