Three days passed in quiet preparation. Jalen remained within the sanctum, absorbing light qi under the watchful gaze of Light. Zakai, meanwhile, made arrangements within the clan, ensuring that his absence would not destabilize the sect. The barrier's thinning was approaching, and with it, the opportunity to enter the sealed state—a land forgotten, yet brimming with mystery.
On the dawn of the third day, the trio departed.
They arrived at the edge of the sealed state just as the sun reached its zenith. The barrier shimmered faintly, a translucent wall of ancient qi threads woven by cultivators long gone. Zakai and Light stood silently before it, their spirit senses stretched wide. Hours passed. Jalen sat cross-legged nearby, awaiting the moment the veil was breached.
Then it happened.
Light's form dissolved into radiant particles, coalescing into a spear of pure light. The weapon hovered for a moment, humming with power, before drifting into Zakai's outstretched hand. The moment Zakai grasped it, his aura exploded.
Light qi surged around him like a solar storm. His cultivation, already formidable, spiked to terrifying heights. The air trembled. The ground cracked. The sky dimmed in reverence.
The flare did not go unnoticed.
Across the continent, powerful cultivators stirred. In nearby states, sects with Sky Limit Realm leaders and Sage Realm elders turned their gazes toward SunRay.
With a single motion, he thrust Light forward. The spear pierced the barrier's weakened section, unraveling the ancient formation like silk. A narrow passage opened—brief, unstable, and dangerous.
But before Zakai could speak, Jalen's body jerked violently.
The Origin Shard within him surged, hijacking his body in a flash of dark brilliance. Jalen's eyes glowed with elemental chaos as he shot through the breach like a comet.
"That sneaky bastard," Light growled from within the spear.
"Go after him!" Light urged.
Zakai didn't hesitate. He transformed into a beam of light and followed Jalen into the sealed state.
Moments later, over a hundred cultivators arrived at the breach site—ten of them Sky Limit Realm experts, the rest Peak Sage Realm cultivators from various sects within and beyond SunRay. Most hailed from the two neighboring states that bordered both SunRay and the sealed realm.
They scanned the area, searching for the source of the disturbance. But the breach had already sealed, and the land bore no obvious signs of conflict. With no clear answers, the cultivators began exchanging greetings, each hoping someone else knew more.
All they could confirm was this: a massive surge of light qi had erupted moments earlier—so potent it had shaken formations across multiple states. Naturally, all eyes turned toward the Light Clan. But despite their curiosity, none dared approach the clan directly.
The Light Clan was revered across the continent—not only for their strength but also for their unmatched healing arts. To question their affairs without cause was to risk offense. And so, despite the unanswered questions, the gathered cultivators held their tongues.
For now.
Meanwhile, inside the sealed state…
Jalen and Zakai streaked across the sky, their energies blazing like twin stars. The sealed state was vast—an entire region of the Rale continent, cut off for centuries. Its qi was wild, untamed, and potent.
Cultivators within the sealed state noticed immediately.
The weaker ones trembled, unable to withstand the pressure. Sage Realm experts watched with awe. Sky Limit cultivators narrowed their eyes, sensing unfamiliar energies.
"Who are they?" one asked.
"I've never felt qi like that," said another.
Some chose to follow.
Jalen and Zakai paid the gathering cultivators no mind. Their destination was clear: the Mountain of Fortitude.
Hidden for centuries within a secret realm buried deep in the Oshana Desert—part of the sealed state of Arian, also known as the Sandy State—the mountain had remained undetected by all the cultivators that resided there. But now, thanks to Light and the Origin Shard, the realm had been forced into visibility, and its seal shattered.
The mountain loomed ahead like a frozen titan—an enormous peak of pure ice, its surface gleaming with crystalline formations that refracted the ambient qi. The cold it radiated was unnatural, ancient, and lethal. Even Sage Realm cultivators avoided its slopes. Only those with profound ice qi dared approach—and even they risked death.
Jalen and Zakai charged in without hesitation.
The mountain responded.
Ice formations erupted from the ground, forming spears, walls, and beasts of frost. The air thickened with freezing qi, trying to halt their advance.
But Jalen summoned Luminal Edge, his light-forged blade, and Zakai wielded Light, the eternal-grade spear. Together, they carved through the ice with ease.
Each strike from Zakai shattered formations like glass. Jalen's blade danced through the frost, slicing through barriers and beasts alike. The mountain roared, but it could not stop them.
Eventually, they reached the crater beneath the peak.
But the crater was no ordinary hollow. It was a gateway—an elemental fracture sealed beneath the ice. The moment they stepped across its threshold, the world shifted. The sky above was no longer the same. The air, the qi, and even the laws of space bent around them. They had entered a flame domain—an isolated pocket of reality forged by ancient elemental convergence.
The heat pressed in from all directions, suffocating even for a Sky Limit Realm cultivator. The domain itself pulsed with power, alive with ancient flame qi that Jalen and Zakia found unbearable despite their strong physique and their aura protecting them.
Jalen had no choice—the Origin Shard had seized control, dragging him forward. Zakai followed under pressure from Light, who pulsed with urgency from within the eternal-grade spear.
Both spirit tools had sensed it.
Five treasures slumbered beneath the crater—each radiating a different elemental signature. Flame. Ice. Wind. Shadow. And Light.
Only one mattered to Zakai: the treasure of light. The one Light had long desired.
As for the origin shard, it wanted all five for it's weilder. However, it chooses to go after the light treasure first before the others. If it manages to get this one, then it won't have an issue retrieving the other four.
This wasn't just a descent into flame.
It was a race between ancient wills.
But they were not alone.
Cultivators—some Sage Realm, others Sky Limit—had followed their trail. Curious, cautious, and hungry for answers.
But when they reached the flaming crater, many faltered.
The pressure was overwhelming. The flame qi surged like a living tide, suffocating and violent. Some cultivators, despite their desire for whatever treasure lay hidden within the crater, were forced to retreat. Others—especially flame cultivators—pressed forward, drawn by resonance despite the brutal conditions.
By the time Jalen and Zakai reached the center of the flame domain, they had no clothing left—burned to ash by the relentless heat. Their skin bore scorch marks despite their powerful physiques and protective auras. That was the nature of this place: the deeper they went, the denser the flame qi became.
Even flame cultivators like Jalen struggled here. Yet the Origin Shard forced him forward, drawing in the searing energy to refine his flame qi at an accelerated rate. It was agony—his meridians screamed, his core trembled—but the shard didn't care. It wanted power. And pain was the price.
For Jalen, it was torment.
For the shard, it was progress.
Zakai fared no better. The spiritual fire clawed at his foundation, threatening to unravel his cultivation. But Light surged within him, fusing with his body in a burst of brilliance. Radiance poured from his pores as he activated his Light Physique, transforming into a being of pure illumination.
Only then could he endure.
Then the formation at the heart of the domain awakened.
Flames erupted around them, twisting into beasts of molten lava and serpents of burning qi. The sky above the domain pulsed crimson. The ground cracked with every step.
Jalen activated Luminal Edge, slicing through a fire serpent that lunged at him. Zakai spun Light in wide arcs, releasing waves of radiant qi that burst through flame beasts in flashes of brilliance.
But the fire wasn't just physical—it was spiritual. It clawed at their cores, trying to burn away their very essence.
This was no trial of strength.
It was a crucible of will.
