Basically the future mc time travels back (regresses as well) and...there is already our mc here you know?
So yes. Our mc will be trying to save his past self from suffering, because the one he pities the most was himself. He should be hating the past him. But he could only feel that his past self didn't dezerve the things that happened to him. Oh he hates HIMSELF alright. But he doesn't hate his past seld. It is a bit paradoxical and doesn't make much sense but it is true.
