"Here's your tea, my lady." Sophia said, placing a plain tea cup in front of Renzille.
Renzille grasped the fragile handle of the cup and kept her eyes on the wolf child sitting across from her, eyeing the way his ears fell flat against his hair as he fiddled with the hard cover of his book.
Renzille took a sip and cleared her throat, putting the cup down. "What would you like to know, Crane? I'll answer the questions you have."
The wolf child didn't look up, but with the way he paused fiddling with his book, it was obvious that he was thinking about it, so Renzille picked up her cup once again and took a sip.
It took Crane a good second before he could speak up, but once he did, his words made Renzille freeze.
"You want to take me in because there's a beastman who wants to adopt me, too, right?" Crane asked, though his words sounded more like a statement rather than a question.
He's smart. Renzille noted, forcing a smile on her face.
