Chapter 4 - 4

Kathryn ran for an unknown period of time before she stumbled and fell to the ground, her clothes wrinkled in a mess, and the once smooth stockings on her legs were torn and tattered.

Behind her, the bone-strewn ground rose up, and a giant skeleton spewing resentful flames appeared behind her.

Kathryn shrieked!

Her screams had no effect on the Dream of Resentment, but Imir's roar twisted the entire dream.

Just as Kathryn closed her eyes, despair engulfing her like a tide, the resentful skeleton behind her silently vanished.

She half-crouched on the ground, clutching her head, screaming for a long time until her voice was hoarse and she had no strength left before she finally calmed down a little.

Kathryn mustered her courage and tried to open her eyes, and the entire dream world had changed.

Blue sky, white clouds, bright sunlight, and it was still quiet all around.

However, the ground beneath her feet was no longer terrifying bones, but an endless green grassland, interspersed with various flowers Kathryn recognized and didn't recognize, blooming joyfully under the sun.

All the falling ash had disappeared, and under the clear sky, the flowers and grass seemed to be covered in a layer of sacred light.

A gentle breeze brushed past, bringing with it the fragrance of earth and flowers, like soft sunlight, calming Kathryn's mood.

"It's really beautiful…" Kathryn murmured softly.

She adjusted her posture, got up from the ground, and stared blankly at the grassland, lost in thought.

This nightmare seemed to be over.

Kathryn stood frozen, not understanding how tonight's dream could have undergone such a drastically different change.

Yes, she suddenly realized that she had been in a dream all along… In the dream, she saw a figure approaching in the distance, someone Kathryn had secretly admired for a long time.

Her company's big boss, an American billionaire and arms manufacturer, famous for his unique lifestyle, his intelligence, and his genius as an inventor, always appearing like a playboy, but someone Kathryn wouldn't forget even in her dreams: "Tony Stark…"

"Tony Stark… Iron Man…"

Imir, who only wanted to bring peace to his sister Kathryn, didn't know why he had transformed into a handsome young man in a sharp, expensive suit.

Just as he was secretly wondering who this image of himself was to Kathryn, he was startled by Kathryn's unintentional murmur!

Although Imir had not read Marvel comics in his previous life, he had seen the American superhero movie "Iron Man," starring Robert Downey Jr.

He could vividly remember that in the "Iron Man" movie, the billionaire who became an American superhero by building armor, wasn't his name precisely Tony Stark?

His real name, Anthony Edward "Tony" Stark, was not only the chairman of "Stark Industries" but also the famous arms dealer who supplied weapons to the US military in the movie!

Imir was already a bit bewildered; his mind simply couldn't process it.

It was already astonishing enough that he could be resurrected in a Western body after being killed by the Spear of Longinus, and what happened tonight made him realize that he hadn't truly been resurrected, but was merely a ghost existing through yin energy.

Alright, since he had already accepted his "resurrection," then why couldn't he accept transmigrating to another world?

Could there be anything more bizarre than this?

Imir had never imagined it before, but now it was truly happening right before his eyes.

He had always thought "Iron Man" was a science fiction movie, but why had he transmigrated into a science fiction movie and turned into a vengeful spirit?

It was like suddenly seeing a Gundam mech in a horror movie, or seeing Sadako or Kayako in Transformers—it was too incredible!

However, this also showed Imir's limited knowledge; in fact, the occurrence of supernatural events in the world of "Iron Man" was actually quite normal.

You see, "Iron Man" is a story that takes place in a corner of the Marvel Universe, and in this larger Marvel world, there also exist fantastical magical heroes like Ghost Rider, Doctor Strange, and Doctor Doom, who defy scientific principles.

Every superhero does not exist in isolation.

In later major events in the Marvel Universe, Doctor Strange even formed the Illuminati with Iron Man Stark, Mr. Fantastic, the leader of the Fantastic Four, and Black Bolt, the leader of the Inhumans, to exile the Hulk, who had lost his reason and whose power was difficult to control, into space.

Tightly embraced by his sister Kathryn, Imir had no time to feel the warm fullness of Kathryn's chest.

Instead, his mind grew even more confused.

Could it be that he had truly transmigrated to a world identical to that of "Iron Man"?

Imir had encountered the theory of parallel universes in his previous life.

Although he hadn't studied it in detail, he knew that the multiverse was a theoretical collection of an infinite or finite number of possible universes, including everything that exists and could possibly exist.

In these universes, there are also spacetimes that were born under the same conditions as Imir's previous life's universe, meaning there could be planets identical to the one humans inhabit, or planets with the same history, and there could also be people completely identical to humans.

At the same time, in these different universes, the development of events would have different outcomes.

In Imir's previous world, superheroes existed only in comics, movies, and games, but perhaps in the spacetime he currently inhabited, they were real.

In other words, Imir might not only be able to personally see Iron Man Tony Stark from the movies, but perhaps he would also be lucky enough to see superheroes and supervillains with various special abilities.

Thinking this way, perhaps Imir, as a vengeful spirit, was not a unique existence.

He was merely one of many superpowered mutants.

Slightly letting go of the entanglement in his heart, Imir dared not linger with his biological sister in this body.

He quickly used his yin energy to lift Kathryn's illusion.

His own body also transformed into a thought wave invisible to the naked eye, returning to his own bedroom.

It felt as if a long century had passed, yet also as if only an instant had gone by.

Imir rubbed his head hard and got up from the bed.

Frankly speaking, if he didn't have to consider the possibility of being ostracized by the public, having special abilities was quite a secretly satisfying thing.

Imir lowered his head and stretched his arms vigorously.

He had already discovered that he could freely transform between physical and spiritual forms.

If that were the case, as long as he concealed himself well, perhaps others wouldn't be able to tell that he was a vengeful spirit.

A sly smile, like a weasel that had stolen a chick, appeared on his face.

There were many regrets left unfulfilled in his previous life, and perhaps this was the best gift heaven had bestowed upon him.

Imir opened his eyes, and his gaze instinctively sharpened.

The neatly folded clothes on the bedside table floated up and automatically dressed him.
