"Well, this is a problem."
Axel looked at Rick, Kora and Jayden as they stood still like robots programmed to take orders from only him. Kinsey was still shaken from when Rick tried to use her to make his debut as a ghoul, but she was still very curious.
"What is?" Kinsey asked Axel, still keeping her distance from Rick.
"Rick, can you hear me?" Axel called out, but all Rick did was acknowledge Axel's voice. He said nothing.
"Are they zombies?" Nile asked. "They're acting like zombies. We did not go through all this trouble for them to become zombies, Axel. Fix this!"
"They aren't zombies, they're just hungry," Axel responded. "Ghouls need fresh meat to survive, and they just turned, so their hunger is insatiable. I'm the only thing keeping them at bay."
Axel's words were unsettling, so much so that Lynn, Kinsey and even Nile took steps backwards.
"Are they going to eat us?" Lynn asked, her voice shaking from fear.
