Chapter 1 - The New Guy

Helena was an 18-year-old girl who is writing in her diary, alone at a retreat in her parents' cottage.

She lost both her parents at a young age. They died in a car accident.

Dear Diary,

Please let this be the year I meet my fated mate.

With that she closes the book and places it on the table in front of her. She unties her long, dark-brown hair and wraps the quilt around her, then quickly falls asleep on the sofa-cum-bed in the lounge.

Today is the first day of college. Lockwood College is centuries old but has been updated to a modern look.

Helena meets her twobest friends Priya and Ray outside the front entrance of the college.

Suddenly, she senses a tingling up her spine. This usually happens when there is another werewolf nearby. But this felt different to Helena.

Maybe it's my fated mate, Helena thinks.

All of a sudden, Priya slaps Helena's shoulder and she falls back to earth.

"Check out the new guy." Priya says to her besties.

He's wearing shades so there is no telling that his eyes look like. But the rest of his features are clear. A chiseled jawline, auburn hair, and a lean, muscular physique complete the package. He walks past the three onlookers without even stopping to acknowledge their presence.

"So hot." Priya comments.

"True that." Ray agres.

Helena doesn't say anything as her human friends would not understand. This new bou could be her fated mate after all.

They are now seated in this semester's first English lit class. Priya and Ray find seats together but Helena is trying to find an empty chair.

She eyes the one next to the new guy, but her rival Sally gets to that seat first.

Sally is the most desirable girl in Lockwood College. Previously, she was the most desirable at Lockwood High School. And she just had to enroll where Helena had.

Sally's perfect tits are practically in the new guy's face. He finally removes his shades then introduces himself.

"I'm Stephen." He says with a smirk ignoring Helena who can't help staring at his gorgeous eyes.

Guess he isn't my fated mate after all. She thinks. He seems more interested in Sally than me.

It was a cold night but Stephen was warmed by the memory of seeing Helena in the morning at college. He tried his best to play it cool but he wanted to be with her from the onset. For now, he would have to lay low.

Which was saying a lot as he was living in his family mansion. It was unoccupied by a family member for decades but the house servant Alfred kept it clean and liveable.

"How was the first day of college, Master Stephen?" Alfred asked.

"It was good, Alfred." Stephen said. "Thanks for asking."

Stephen was about to enter his bedroom when Alfred told him that a visitor was awaiting him.

Perplexed, Stephen entered the room wondering who even had heard of him moving back to the family mansion. It was none of than-

"Damien!" Stephen exclaimed.

"Surprised to see me, little brother?" Damien asked with a devilish grin.

Both brothers had almost the same height with Stephen being an inch taller. While Stephen had auburn hair, Damien's hair was jet black.

"What do you want?" Stephen crossed his arms. "And how did you find out I was here?"

In a flash, Damien was in front of Stephen and held his shoulders. "I am here for the little wolf, you know I saw her first, don't ya?"

Stephen shoved Damien, the latter then shoved his younger brother. The older sibling then threw Stephen against the back wall and bricks crumbled. Stephen was lying on his back, in the cold, outside.

"W-what do you want, Damien?" Stephen tried getting up but he had just been through a wall, literally.

"I want Jenna."

"That's not even her name."

"Whatever."

And with that, Damien disappeared into thin air.

Dear Diary,

Is Stephen my fated mate?

Helena was on a park bench writing in her diary. She was seemingly alone until Damien showed up seated next to her.

"Hey, stranger." Damien called.

"Hi." Helena was taken aback but she remembered the jet-black-haired guy. "I remember you. From a few weeks ago. You were drunk."

"Maybe I still am." Damien said with a wink.

They started chatting like old buddies with Stephen watching with a frown from afar.

It was recess. Helena was putting her books back in her locker, when Sally shut it loudly.

"Stay away from my man, Helena." Sally said with a raised finger.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

Helena tried to move away from Sally but the latter interrupted her. "I'm talking about Stephen."

"He's not your man."

"Yet." Sally said with her arms crossed against her chest. "You want a piece of this?"

Everyone in the hallway stopped to look at the scene unfold. As much as her human side wanted to ignore Sally, her wolf demanded the opposite. So, she shoved Sally and the latter went skidding backwards across the floor.

Gasps and shouts were heard everywhere.

Sally was sitting up, expecting an apology, but Helena ignored and then walked past her rival.

Sally was in a church. She usually never visited churches but was now desperate for revenge.

She held her hands together in prayer while sitting in one of the pews.

God, please let me get revenge against Helena, that bitch, excuse me.

Suddenly, a stranger adorning all black appeared with her face hidden behind a shawl. She held Sally's shoulder with one hand.

"I can help grant that wish." The stranger said.

Sally was too frightened to look at the newcomer. "How did you know my wish?"

"Let's just say." She said. "I know things."

Sally felt a sharp pain on her shoulder. It seemed like the stranger had just scratched her there.

She fell asleep but awoke moments later to find herself in the alley beside the church. She felt like she was hungover. But she quickly regained her composure and remembered nothing about the previous encounter.
