In a Black World –
At first, Ash had been hesitating.
He'd been trying to figure out how to defeat Gengar with the least possible collateral damage.
Now a super-ancient Alakazam had shown up on top of that.
Yeah. No point hesitating anymore.
Two super-ancient Pokémon like that… even if Pikachu fried himself from overuse, there was no way they'd be able to knock both of them out cleanly.
And…
Ash wasn't even sure he could suppress them both at the same time.
Against Ghost-types, his greatest strengths—his physical power and Aura Sphere—barely worked on them at all.
In front of a Ghost-type, Ash really was at a disadvantage.
By now, the two ancient Pokémon had already started fighting.
The super-ancient Alakazam and Gengar clearly had some kind of ancient grudge.
The moment they locked eyes, they went berserk.
One unleashed blinding beams of psychic light, the other hurled waves of dark energy.
Psychic and Dark attacks clashed, and the aftermath of their battle rippled outward, tearing up the surrounding forest.
"Ash, what do we do?" Misty asked reflexively.
Ever since the Mewtwo incident…
Ash had basically become "can-do-anything Superman" in her heart.
One punch making a whole island shake—
What else could that be but a superhuman?
So to Misty, there was no way Ash didn't have a plan.
"First, I call for backup. Pikachu, cancel out any blasts that come our way with Thunderbolt!"
After giving Pikachu instructions, Ash took out a high-grade Poké Ball and closed his eyes.
At first, Misty and Brock didn't understand what he meant by "calling someone."
But when they saw which ball he was holding, they got it immediately.
Ash was about to call Mewtwo.
Over the past half-month, Ash had kept in touch with Mewtwo whenever he had downtime—
Asking where he'd gone, what he'd seen, who he'd fought.
He'd learned that Mewtwo had been wandering around the Kanto region,
And had even asked him if there were any powerful Legendary Pokémon around.
The answer: the three Legendary birds—Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno.
After that, Mewtwo went looking.
So far, he'd found exactly one Zapdos at a power plant…
And beaten it senseless.
Afterward, he'd complained to Ash that fighting Zapdos was boring—
That he'd rather spar with Ash instead.
Ash really hadn't known how to respond to that.
Only Mewtwo would call beating a Legendary bird "boring."
The status of "Legendary Pokémon" had probably plummeted in his heart.
Anyway—
Since Mewtwo was roaming Kanto,
And his psychic powers were absurd,
As long as Ash called him, he could show up in a very short time.
Moments later, Ash opened his eyes, batted away a stray bolt from Pikachu with one hand,
And said to Brock, Misty, and the stunned White:
"Mewtwo's on his way. He'll be here in about five minutes. Until then, we need to keep these two under control."
"Their battle is messing with the climate over all of Kanto…"
"It's not just raw power—this is probably some special influence that comes with being super-ancient Pokémon. Pikachu, we're counting on you!"
As he spoke, Ash directly entered Aura Fusion with Pikachu.
Before Mewtwo arrived, they needed to buy him some time.
[Lance: Excuse me?? Mewtwo on call?? Say the word and he shows up in five minutes?!]
[Sabrina: Why not? Ash is Mewtwo's Trainer now. Mewtwo acknowledges him.]
[Sabrina: If a Trainer is in danger, what kind of Pokémon wouldn't come when called?]
[Norman (Qianli): I get the logic, but… seeing the cold, ruthless Mewtwo from the earlier clips, and then seeing this loyal "Ash-worried" Mewtwo… it feels surreal.]
[Max (Xiaosheng): Yeah, totally!]
"Max! Weren't you told not to talk in the livestream?"
At Petalburg Gym, Norman snapped as soon as he saw his son's username pop up.
Max just stuck out his tongue and didn't answer.
He wasn't stupid—arguing now would just earn him a longer lecture.
Norman sighed. His son was usually very obedient,
But whenever it came to Pokémon, his curiosity exploded.
Back when the livestream started, both his son and daughter had "speak" privileges.
That had surprised him too.
After all, neither of them had even started their own journeys yet.
"Forget it. Just be more careful next time," Norman said. "It's not that I'm forbidding you to speak at all, it's just… everyone else is a known Trainer. If some random kid keeps jumping into the conversation, people are going to laugh."
"Got it, Dad!" Max answered quickly.
Whether he truly "got it" was another story.
Next to him, a girl sat quietly watching the screen.
Her name was Haruka—Norman's other child, and another person who had permission to speak in the stream.
Unlike her younger brother, she was older and more mature.
Her parents had told her not to post in the chat, so she didn't.
Still, she couldn't help being curious about this boy called Ash.
He looked… a little older than her, and yet he was already this strong.
It would be so nice if I could travel one day and meet him… maybe even be partners…
Of course, the one she was daydreaming about was White World Ash—
Who, after six months of traveling, had clearly grown a lot too.
In a Black World –
Just as Ash and Pikachu entered Aura Fusion,
Ready to forcibly calm down the two ancient Pokémon,
Jigglypuff glanced curiously toward the large golden pendulum in the ruins not far away.
She felt like… something over there was calling to her.
But it was far too dangerous outside right now.
Better to stay clinging to the blue-eyed boy she trusted.
Right here was safe.jpg.
"Rain Dance!"
White and the others: "???"
Wait, what the heck—Rain Dance? Pikachu?!
Brock and Misty, on the other hand, barely blinked.
From the moment Pikachu started using Rain Dance, they already knew what Ash was planning.
If it weren't for Ash's Aura barrier, they'd have started running long ago.
As Pikachu danced, the already-dark sky thickened with storm clouds.
The world grew darker.
Soon, heavy raindrops began to fall.
But for the two super-ancient Pokémon locked in fierce battle, the rain was nothing.
They ignored the weather entirely,
Still trading attacks and tearing up the land.
Ash raised an eyebrow.
The hardest part of the Thunder Kirin technique was getting perfect timing and positioning.
But these two didn't just ignore him—
They literally weren't even looking in his direction.
Which meant the biggest drawback of using Kirin… had just vanished.
"Pikachu, they're ignoring us."
"Pika!"
"If we don't show them some respect, it'll stain your title as the King of Thunder."
"Pika…?"
"Since when did you have a title? Since now. Get ready!"
"Pika-pi!"
Golden lightning surged outward, turning the dark sky into a sea of crackling electricity.
This finally drew the attention of the two ancient giants.
They both sensed it—
The thunder above carried power that could actually threaten them.
"Huuh!"
"Gengaaa!"
Super-ancient Alakazam and Gengar turned at the same time toward the source of the thunder,
And saw a tiny Pikachu…
And a skinny-looking human beside him.
Their wariness instantly faded.
These two? What real threat could they possibly pose?
They regretted that thought a second later.
The golden sea of lightning in the sky suddenly shifted—
Its color turning into a brilliant, piercing blue.
Azure bolts churned in the storm clouds above, roaring like a living thing.
Pikachu raised his little paw, and the thunder in the sky seemed to be dragged by invisible strings,
Gathering into a single point.
In the next instant—
The Kirin appeared.
A colossal unicorn made entirely of blue lightning formed in front of everyone's eyes.
With the Light Ball's boost, plus all the training so far,
Pikachu no longer needed a pre-set electric terrain to call forth Thunder Kirin.
And this Kirin—
Was several times stronger than the one he'd used against Koga's Venomoth and Arbok.
"It's time you paid for underestimating us."
"In the roar of thunder—vanish."
Ash brought his hand down in a sharp arc, and Pikachu mirrored the motion perfectly.
The roaring thunder unicorn in the sky lunged forward,
Opening its massive jaws to bite down.
Alakazam and Gengar snapped out of their shock at the last second.
They both unleashed the strongest moves they had.
"Psychic!"
"Shadow Ball!"
Alakazam's overwhelming Psychic power slammed into the Thunder Kirin, trying to pin it in place.
Gengar hurled massive Shadow Balls, one after another, into the heart of the thunder beast.
But…
The Psychic hold shattered after only a few seconds.
And the Shadow Balls only dimmed the Kirin's glow slightly.
By then, the unicorn was already in front of them,
Its target clear.
It charged straight at Gengar.
The Kirin's jaws clamped down on Gengar's body, then flared even brighter.
And then—
It exploded.
"—Hummmm—"
The terrifying blue blast wave surged outward in all directions.
At this rate, it would flatten the entire mountain.
The next moment, time itself seemed to slow.
The expanding ring of blue energy froze,
Then began to compress inward.
At the same time, a familiar voice echoed in everyone's minds.
Been a while.
You say there are two super-ancient Pokémon about to destroy the world, I rush over… and the first thing I see is Pikachu almost destroying a mountain.
[Gory (Goyato): Mewtwo's here! That didn't even take five minutes!]
[Diantha: I checked the time. It was barely over three minutes. When Mewtwo said "five minutes," that was conservative. Three minutes is his full-speed mode.]
[Volkner: If Mewtwo hadn't shown up, Pikachu's Kirin would've leveled that entire mountain. The destructive power is insane!]
[Koga (Ah Ju): Compared to when he used it on me… this is several times stronger. I'm pretty sure that if you hit a Champion's ace with that, they'd at least be seriously injured.]
[Cynthia: And that's the problem. It's too big. Even ignoring the enemy… the collateral damage is terrifying. This move can't be used in a regular stadium battle at all.]
Whether it was the fight with Koga earlier
Or now, against the super-ancient Pokémon,
The destructive power of Thunder Kirin was beyond dispute.
If Ash tried that in an official match,
The casualties would be horrifying.
Unless someone used something like an Aegislash to generate a massive shield, there'd be no way to block it safely.
[Ash: But it is really cool!]
[Volkner: Cool as hell. I recorded it. I'm going to see if my Raichu can learn something similar.]
[Daigo (Ohba): Uh… you're not planning to test it on me, are you?]
[Volkner: Who can say?]
[Ohba: …]
Traitor. You really want your partner to kill your old friend on the spot, huh?
Honestly, who besides Black World Ash could even use that move safely?
Without an Aura barrier, the Trainers themselves would be the first ones sent to see Arceus.
In a Black World –
Because of the voice suddenly ringing in their heads,
White and her team glanced around in a panic.
Whose voice was that?
Ash and Pikachu, meanwhile, let out the same, half-smug, half-relieved grin.
"Well, to be fair, those two fighting is what's twisting the whole world's weather. Their attacks aren't that ridiculous by themselves, but the world reacts weirdly when they clash."
"Pikachu and I would've done nothing worse than flatten this mountain. If they'd kept going, then we'd be looking at the actual end of the world."
Ash was already making excuses to Mewtwo, who had arrived right beside him.
Mewtwo's small, lithe form floated in the air, three-fingered hands lightly pinched together,
Holding the entire expanding shock wave in place.
In the end, only the super-ancient Pokémon themselves ended up badly hurt.
The blast wave itself, under Mewtwo's control, was compressed and contained for several long seconds.
During that time, Ash scooped up a frightened Jigglypuff and hugged her close,
Chatting with Mewtwo via telepathy about what had happened recently.
White quietly edged over to Brock and Misty,
Whispering questions about what exactly Mewtwo was—
And what on earth was going on with Pikachu.
Brock, usually a shameless flirt and walking Pokédex when beautiful women were involved, kept his mouth shut for once.
He absolutely would not sell out his best friend's secrets.
Nor would he betray Mewtwo.
As for the pretty lady in front of him… he could only silently apologize.
Brock's heart was bleeding from refusing a beautiful woman, and Misty just shook her head.
Even a hopeless woman-chaser had his trustworthy moments.
On the other side, the blue glow slowly dissipated under Mewtwo's control,
Revealing the two super-ancient Pokémon inside, charred in patches from the blast.
Even after taking a full-power Thunder Kirin,
Neither Gengar nor Alakazam had actually fainted.
That was the terrifying thing about super-ancient Pokémon—their stamina.
In terms of pure offense and defense, modern Champion-level Pokémon might match or surpass them.
But in a prolonged battle, it was a very different story.
Of the two, Gengar—the one Ash had focused on—was clearly in worse shape.
He glared at Ash fiercely,
Both hands already cupping twin Shadow Balls.
Ash hadn't wanted to single Gengar out.
But his own Aura and physical power didn't work on Ghost-types.
If Mewtwo hadn't shown up,
His plan had been to send himself to stall Alakazam,
And have Pikachu hold Gengar off long enough for Mewtwo to arrive.
He hadn't expected Mewtwo to get here so fast.
Right now—
The twin Shadow Balls were fully charged in Gengar's hands,
And Alakazam had raised its spoons, sending a Psybeam-like flash of psychic light surging forward.
Colorful psychic rays and black orbs hurtled toward them—
And Mewtwo simply raised one hand.
The two seemingly powerful attacks froze in mid-air.
Then he clenched his fingers.
"Boom!!"
Psybeam and Shadow Ball shattered at the same time,
Breaking apart into glittering motes of light that drifted through the air.
Cold sweat slid down the foreheads of both super-ancient Gengar and Alakazam.
Who is this small, cat-like guy?
His power was terrifying.
For the first time, the two tyrants of the super-ancient era felt an urge to run.
But Mewtwo had no intention of giving them a chance.
His psychic power shifted—
Turning into a powerful Hypnosis.
In an instant, both super-ancient Pokémon fell into a deep sleep,
And Mewtwo telekinetically shoved them back into their respective relics—
The golden and black ancient artifacts Ash's group and Team Rocket had found earlier.
At the same time, with Gengar's body dissolving, the Team Rocket trio were spat out onto the ground as well.
Mewtwo caught them with his psychic power and floated them up in front of him.
Why are these three here again? he asked Ash, slightly puzzled.
"Good question. I was just wondering where Gengar came from, and now I have my answer."
"The real culprits are right here."
"Pikachu—see them off."
"Pika-CHUUU!!"
"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off agaaaaain—!!"
PS:
Norman – Gym Leader of Petalburg City in Hoenn; father of Max and Haruka. Strict but caring, worries about his kids talking in the livestream.
Max – Norman's son. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Pokémon, but still a child, often scolded for butting in.
Haruka – Norman's daughter (May's counterpart). Curious about Ash and quietly admires him, but obeys her parents and stays silent in the chat.
Super-Ancient Gengar – Giant corrupted form of Gengar sealed in a black relic. Uses Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball, has Champion-tier stamina. Targeted by Thunder Kirin.
Moves & Techniques
Rain Dance – Used by Pikachu to set up a storm and amplify electric attacks. Here, it's the setup for Thunder Kirin.
Thunder Kirin – Ash and Pikachu's signature ultimate move:
Mechanically: a supercharged Thunder variant shaped into a giant blue lightning unicorn.
Requires Rain Dance, Aura Fusion, and Light Ball.
Power: Several times stronger than before; enough to seriously injure Champion-level Pokémon and flatten entire mountains.
Collateral damage is enormous; considered unsafe for normal competitive arenas.
Thunderbolt (100,000 Volts) – Used to counter Dark Pulse and stray blasts from the ancient Pokémon.
Thunder – Used earlier to damage Gengar; here referenced as Pikachu's high-end electric attack.
Psychic – Alakazam's high-power psychic attack used to try and restrain Thunder Kirin.
Psybeam ("Illusion Light") – The colorful psychic beam Alakazam fires later alongside Gengar's Shadow Balls.
Dark Pulse – The black spiral energy wave Gengar first fires at the group.
Shadow Ball – Gengar's primary Ghost-type attack; its massive Shadow Balls can crater mountains, but are shattered by Mewtwo's power here.
Hypnosis – Mewtwo's psychic sleep technique that instantly knocks out both super-ancient Pokémon.
