Koga: It's starting, it's starting! Black World Ash is at it again—time for another round of self-torture!
Lance: Mmm, you can't call what Black World Ash does "involution." He's the only one doing it—no one's even competing!
Diantha (Kalos Champion) : Black World Ash must be aiming to become a fully versatile Pokémon Trainer!
Brock: The Ash from that world is way too thorough… I've been traveling with Ash for almost a year now, and he's never once thought about who'll care for our Pokémon after we part ways.
Misty: Don't be so smug, Brock! You didn't even travel with us during the Orange Islands arc. Back then, Tracey was with us—and thank goodness he knew a bit about Pokémon care, or our team would've been in chaos!
Ash: Fine, fine! I'll learn, okay? Don't tell me Black World Ash isn't "involuting"—he's involuting me at this point!!
Ash was on the verge of tears.
It was one thing to be compared to other trainers—he could live with that.
But now? He was being compared to himself from another world! There wasn't even a logical excuse he could make!
Absolutely ridiculous!
This dual-world livestream must've been created by the heavens purely to torment him!
In the Black World—
Ash was training hard as he trekked through Mt. Moon.
Along the way, Team Rocket made another appearance, trying to capture the Clefairy that lived there—and, of course, his Pikachu.
But before they could even act, Pikachu's Thunderbolt sent them flying into the sky again.
To thank them for driving the villains away, the Clefairy gifted them a few Moon Stones.
When they reached Cerulean City, Ash immediately sold the Moon Stones to fund their travels.
The stones from Mt. Moon were of excellent quality, and fetched a good price—
at least for now, they wouldn't have to worry about money.
Soon after, Ash headed to challenge the Cerulean Gym.
Just like in the white world, Misty revealed her identity as the youngest of the Waterflower sisters and took up the challenge herself.
But the Ash of this world had no intention of going easy.
Pikachu showed no mercy, taking down both of Misty's Pokémon in one swift burst.
Friends were friends—but battle was battle.
Holding back in a match was, to Ash, the greatest form of disrespect toward a friend.
And so, he earned his second Gym Badge smoothly.
Only after the match did Team Rocket show up—
only to be sent flying into the stratosphere again by Pikachu's thunder.
Watching their disappearing figures streak across the sky, Ash scratched his head.
"Do they ever learn their lesson? They're still coming after us!"
"You know," Brock said, "they're like cockroaches—you can knock them away a hundred times, and they'll always come crawling back. And somehow, they always find us perfectly…"
Ash froze.
"Wait—don't tell me they put a tracker on us! Quick, check everything!"
After a thorough search, they found nothing.
So… how did Team Rocket keep finding them?
Could it really be… through sheer love for Pikachu???
Ash: Hey, seriously though—Team Rocket, how do you keep finding us? Don't tell me you really planted a tracker!
James: It's all thanks to our love for Pikachu! So come on, hand him over—we promise to treat him well!
Jessie: Exactly! We've been chasing you for almost a year now—doesn't that count as true love?
Ash:Tch! Have you no shame?!
In the Black World—
After blasting off Team Rocket once again, Ash stayed in Cerulean City for another day.
He said he was waiting for Professor Oak to send over some supplies.
The next morning, a large truck pulled up. A Machamp climbed down and began unloading piles of metal equipment.
Misty and Brock exchanged puzzled looks.
"What is all that, Ash?"
"Training weights."
"...Huh?"
"These are for Pikachu and the others. Originally, they were just for Pikachu—but after catching Pidgeotto and Butterfree, I asked Professor Oak to make sets for them too."
Ash picked up two small metal rings and attached them to Pikachu's tail.
To the naked eye, it just looked like a little extra metal—
but Pikachu himself knew exactly how heavy they were.
Ash then released Pidgeotto and Butterfree.
Because Butterfree's wings were delicate, her weights were designed as a collar to distribute pressure evenly throughout her body.
For Pidgeotto, each wing bore a ring.
"Since it's their first time training with weights, I didn't make them too heavy. Once you get used to it, I'll increase them. Don't worry about injuries—I've been learning massage techniques from Brock, so I'll help relax your muscles after training every day."
Ash gently patted their heads.
Even though both Pokémon were already struggling under the unfamiliar weight, they nodded obediently.
"Wait," Brock said suddenly. "You said 'first time'—meaning Pikachu isn't new to this?"
"Yeah. Pikachu started weighted training long ago. That's why his tail's so strong. And that's not even the end of it…"
Ash then pulled out four more smaller rings and fastened them to Pikachu's limbs.
"The old weights don't do much for him anymore, so I had these made heavier."
"Pika… pi…"
Feeling the familiar pressure, Pikachu's face went completely blank—a perfect picture of despair.
What was it like having a trainer who not only overworked himself, but dragged his Pokémon into it too?
Exhausting. Utterly exhausting.
Misty wiped the sweat from her brow and asked cautiously,
"S-so… how heavy is Pikachu's total weight now?"
"Hmm… all together, around eighty pounds or so—not that much."
Thud.
Misty and Brock nearly collapsed against the wall.
They stared at the small-bodied Pikachu, then at the massive weights attached to him—
and both thought the same thing at once:
You're a monster, Ash.
