Ruby's POV
The words scraped against my throat like broken glass.
"Please... no more."
His voice turned arctic. "We haven't even begun."
"I'm begging you... make it stop." My fingers wrapped around his wrist, trembling uncontrollably.
He went still. A heartbeat passed. "Lyanna, remove him."
"Understood, Alpha."
His palm remained pressed over my eyes. The sound of dragging footsteps echoed through the room, followed by a door slamming shut.
Then nothing.
When his hand finally dropped away, the officer had vanished. Only a dark stain marked where he had been.
I jerked backward, but Elias's arms encircled me before I could retreat further.
"We're leaving."
My knees threatened to buckle, but I managed to follow him through the station corridors. Every person we passed shrank back against the walls, their faces painted with terror and reverence.
Outside, instead of the familiar silver Rolls-Royce, a sleek helicopter waited on the pavement.
