Ruby's POV
My breath caught in my throat.
What was Justin doing here?
The security guard looked even more stunned than I felt. "Mr. Muller... naturally, you're most welcome. But this woman, she isn't—"
"Since when do I need permission to bring a guest?" Justin's tone could have frozen hell over.
"Of course not, sir. I didn't mean—"
"Then disappear," Justin cut him off sharply. "Kate and Stanley practically crawled on their knees begging me to attend this pathetic circus. Keep annoying me, and I'll walk away right now."
The guard's face went pale. He stepped back immediately, mumbling frantically into his radio before rushing inside. No doubt racing to warn Kate and Stanley about this development.
"Why are you here?" I hissed under my breath.
He lifted one shoulder carelessly. "Got your email. You sounded like a scared little lamb about to be slaughtered. Had to see what kind of mess you'd gotten yourself into."
