Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2 - " THE PRISONER'S OATH"

Chapter 2 – "The Prisoner's Oath"

The cold, damp air of the high-security prison seeped into Nick Verma's ( sid brother) bones. Rain hammered against the concrete walls, echoing like the heartbeat of a city that had long forgotten him—but he had not forgotten.

Inside his cell, Nick paced like a caged tiger. Sid's death burned in his mind, replaying every smile, every laugh, every foolish, innocent moment that now felt stolen. The news had reached him in a flickering TV screen, and for the first time, fury mingled with grief.

> "Sid… you were everything I couldn't protect," he muttered, clenching his fists until the knuckles cracked.

The cell was silent, save for the drip of water from the ceiling. Guards passed by, unaware of the storm brewing behind the reinforced bars.

Nick's eyes, cold and calculating, scanned every shadow. He had a plan now. A plan that would outlast the prison walls, the police, the agency, and the world itself.

> "Revenge isn't enough," he whispered to the darkness. "I'll make them pay. Everyone."

His cellmate, a hulking man named Raghav, leaned against the wall, curious but cautious. "You're not just angry. You're… broken," he said.

Nick stopped pacing, his eyes glinting. "Broken is just another word for preparation. Let the world see me now—they will know true fear soon."

Hours passed. Prison guards came and went, their keys jangling like a death knell. Nick sat on the cold floor, drawing invisible maps, memorizing every corridor, every weakness in the system. Every night, he whispered Sid's name and rehearsed the moment of his release—what he would say, who he would confront, and the first faces to see the storm he had become.

By dawn, his resolve was iron. Sid's death was not the end; it was the beginning.

> "I will return," Nick said, voice low and steady. "And I will make them remember why they fear me."

Outside, Jaipur woke to another ordinary day, unaware that the calm before the storm had just begun.
