Before the war destroyed everything, Earth was a shining place—brilliant, vibrant, alive. Technology touched every life, but it was the healthcare advances that changed the world most: machines could heal any wound, and even the gravest surgeries were routine.
However, that fragile peace proved short-lived, undone by the very nature of humanity itself. In the quiet aftermath of war, people in power become show their fangs , their ambitions reigniting the flames of conflict. Greed, envy, and the lust for control festered beneath diplomatic smiles, and soon, internal strife erupted within nations. What began as civil unrest quickly spiraled into a global inferno. The first use of nuclear weapons on the battlefield shattered any illusion of restraint—within days, borders dissolved into chaos, and more than half the world lay in ruins. Once-thriving cities became toxic wastelands, their air unbreathable, their soil poisoned. But the devastation did not end with human hands.
After the war, strange phenomena began to plague the Earth. A mysterious, otherworldly energy seeped into the land, the sea, and the sky — an energy both creation and curse.
The first to fall were the animals; they twisted into monstrous forms, driven by violence and hunger.Humans too were affected. Many mutated into mindless beasts, losing all trace of who they once were. But a few… a rare few retained their sanity — and awakened.
Those who survived the mutation gained abilities beyond comprehension. They became humanity's final hope. The survivors rallied under their protection, building the Sanctuaries, the last cities of humankind.
At the heart of these new bastions stood the Awakener's Tower — a relic of the First Generation, a symbol of human defiance against extinction. It was said that within its walls, one's true potential could be awakened, if fate allowed.
Today, I stand before that tower.
All who are of age must face the Awakening Test.We fill out our forms, receive our numbers, and wait for the doors to open.
> "Next — Number 47. Kalen."
The michanical voice echoes through the hall as it cut through the thick silence and nervousness within me, i rise, my heart steady but heavy.
This test will decide everything — my worth, my future, perhaps even my survival.
Will I rise above the ruins… or die nameless, working in the shadows of others?
Only the tower will decide.
