Chapter 5 - Guildmaster

Someone is looking for me?

Those words echoed in Dion's head.

Who could be looking for him? For what reason were they here?

The sensation of being watched in the forest resurfaced in his memory, and his body shook.

Could this person be after his life?

His footsteps seemed louder than usual as they walked out of the room towards a dining area with a couple of tables and chairs.

Sitting at a table was a huge, light-skinned man with a buzz cut, a scar stretching from his left eye to his mouth.

'You're here. Take a seat.' His deep voice sent chills down Dion's spine. If he didn't sit he would definitely be forced to.

The fat man wasted no time. He bowed slightly and disappeared soon after.

'Word spreads fast here. Did you kill it?' The man spoke and sipped a mysterious liquid from the mug in front of him while reading a newspaper, not even sparing Dion a glance.

'Yes, I did.' Dion had no choice but to answer, though he was scared, an outsider would think he was too calm!

This man's aura was blood red, even just seeing it could shake Dion intensely. This aura did not flow calmly like the others, instead, it was raging as if it could tear the man apart and burst out at any time.

'Good, good.'

The previously restless aura halted for only a moment before exploding.

BOOM

A huge force erupted from the man's body, sending chairs flying and displacing everything in the dining area. The mug of dark liquid was flung aside, and the newspaper tore apart. Dion felt like he was caught in a hurricane, forced flat against the floor.

But to the man's surprise, Dion stood. Not straight, but he was pushing against the force. After two or three seconds of this stalemate, he was sent flying backward.

'Good, good, as expected.'

'HAHAHA! very good. Even with that skinny body, you can resist?'

The intense pressure stopped abruptly, and a deafening laugh filled the entire room.

Apparently, none of the people in the station were curious about what was happening in the room, as nobody even came to check the situation.

Dion could only recover after lying on the floor for a few moments.

'I was sent flying by just his aura. What sort of strength is that?'

'Is he really here to kill me? Would I be able to escape from here alive?'

His thoughts were in complete disarray. He never expected to see that level of strength this early.

'You're Grade 9. That's rare enough, yet you can't even use it.

You must be a commoner, then.'

Dion walked back to an empty spot in front of the man where a table had been and spoke, trying to look as strong and smart as possible.

'Use what?'

'You want to know? You will learn at the guild.'

'At the guild?'

Before he knew it, the stern-looking man tapped his shoulder.

With a sudden whoosh, they were lifted in the air.

Before their heads could reach the ceiling, they dashed out of the building in a blur, soaring high into the air and leaving the front door shattered across the ground. Even the people at the station had not expected such a grand exit.

The people looked up at the sky and exclaimed,

'It's the guildmaster again!'

'Sir Rotimi's doing it again!'

'There's a guy spinning around beside him!'

It was obvious that this was not a new sight to them. The only thing that stood out was Dion, who was unable to keep a steady posture in the air, his head where his legs were supposed to be.

He struggled to stay upright, but was unable to, he tried to call for the guildmaster's attention but the interference from the air would not allow it.

Soon, their speed reduced and they were gradually lowered to the ground. They were in front of a moderately tall building with tanned walls and a brown roof. It did not take time for people to notice their appearance, some stared in reverence at the guildmaster, while some looked in disgust and concern at Dion, who landed headfirst.

'I would be complaining about this treatment, but luckily he isn't trying to kill me, at least not yet.'

He tried to stand upright, but for a second or two his head spun as a result of dizziness, he could only crouch while dusting sand off his head before standing up and trying to catch up to the guildmaster who had almost reached the front door of the guild.

As the guildmaster stepped into the building, the rowdiness and noise halted at once, not even the drunk ones spoke, the employees greeted respectfully, while the people dining were all quiet in fear.

Dion who saw this was not surprised, after all he had experienced the fierce aura of the man first hand. He quietly followed behind, chest forward and chin raised, giving off the prideful aura of someone not to be messed with.

Everyone present stared at the dazzling, purple eyed boy walking behind the guildmaster with curiosity, some even in jealousy.

'Follow me.' The guildmaster said to Dion.

They climbed up the stairs to the second floor, and then into a gloomy looking room with two chairs, one behind a huge table cluttered with books and papers, lit by a few lamps and lined with shelves of books.

They both sat opposite each other, causing Dion to reminisce about the previous event.

'What is your name?' The guildmaster asked, his eyes basically piercing Dion's soul.

'Dion… Dion Adesina.'

The man's eyes suddenly sharpened.

'Adesina?'

Dion pretended not to notice the split second shock on the guildmaster's face as he thought

'He definitely knows something about my ''family''.'

The man continued

'Hmmm.

I heard you were grade 9. And that you killed a grade 8 wolf.

Is it true?'

'Yes, it is.'

'Good, very good.'

Your village, what was its name?

Dion had expected a situation like this, and without any hesitation he spoke

'We were not a large settlement, we called ourselves Iroko.'

'Iroko? What do you know about your family? How did you start living with a small tribe?' Mr. Rotimi stared in discontent.

Dion sighed

'Unfortunately, I have barely any memories of my real family. My foster family said I walked into the settlement when I was young, looking starved and injured.'

The guildmaster thought, 'It's quite likely he's from a different Adesina family. They only had a daughter and a son who were killed alongside all the members of the family.'

'Here, look at this.' The guildmaster said as he pulled out a slightly rough sheet of paper from under a pile of envelopes.

Dion received the paper calmly and flipped it over

The first line stated clearly in a bold font

'World Alliance Summer Program'
